'08 Tundra paint burn

[quote name='gmblack3a']I agree about wet sanding and cleaning that up with wool.

Not sure how wool pads would work with the flex, but wool does run cooler with the rotary.QUOTE]

Not very good, I tried it. The hairs shift back and forth, effectively cancelling out the occilating motion. But I agree with your advice.

Thanks guys....Like I said, it has been resprayed and just needs to be buffed out and everything should be fine.

I have a RAV4 this weekend that is going to need some work done to it so that should help my confidence level!!

I will post pics of the Tundra as soon as I get them......:up

Lexus does have soft paint. I have a 06 IS250 and lets say I wish I had a clear bra lol. Got like 10 rock chips on hood and bumper.

But soft paint is supposed to be more chip resistant, yet more vulnerable to scratches...and hard paint more brittle and susceptable to chipping...at least that's the general thinking on the matter.

Thank you for sharing. It takes a big man to admit making a mistake and asking for help. I am glad that the Tundra is almost completely fixed. I just bought a Flex and haven't used it yet and will heed your cautions and not treat as if it was a PC. The most agressive polish I have is Menz. IP (seldom used) and avoid buying compounds since I only upkeep my home and work cars. You attended the school of hard knocks and your confidence will return. You are now the wiser - and so are we are all - thanks to you.

Well i have a 03 infiniti g35 coupe and my paint is supposed to be soft and i have rock chip heaven.

So here's the pics. I didn't get any "afters" cuz the customer didn't have time to come back to the house. The truck now looks like nothing ever happened. I am more than happy with the AeroColors process and wouldn't hesitate to use them again!!

Also, I can't say enough for the patience and understanding of the customer/friend. He was amazing through this whole thing!! Even his wife emailed me to tell me not to worry about it!!!

The Burn. I know...doesn't really look like much....but to me it was HUGE!!

Thanks again for all the support and comments!!

Glad it worked out fine, I felt sick for you just reading from the start.

Many wouldn't have even posted/owned up to such a mistake, hope it helped to talk about it.

Hope your confidence builds back up, it could have happened to anyone really.
