08 Aston Martin detail

great work!

Do you like your foam gun? i think we have the same 1 from AG... anyway we use the same foam concentrate.

If you have seen my posts you will notise i talk about working an a vantage very similar to this car, i still havent gotten the car. The owner hs been busy and plus the winter sux.

I hope my work on this will be jst as nice as yours.

When I saw the first picture series -- I was like, the car looks great as is -- just needs to put some tire gel and clean the wheels.

However, you made a good looking car look great. -- Bravo.. thats a true sign of a good detailer. Alot of people would look at that car when you got it and say, this thing is clean, it doesn't need a detail!

Awesome job on the paint correction with the limited time.

I just did my first UDM job -- used XMT #3 on a Lexus LS 400 -- (fairly large) -- Took me 7 hours to work all the panels (and prep , etc).

If you worked like I did, there would be no way you would have finished =) -- I've got to figure out a way to speed things up.

Nice

Unbelievable that he wouldn't have that door redone . I will probably never own one of these cars but if I do, where is the gear stick?

The owner said the dealership recommended the paint shop that he took it to.

Where did he take it - MAACO??? ;) If they can't match the door, then they should re-spray the entire car...assuming they could do THAT in a competent manner. This just shows that the insurance companies are driving the whole body shop industry into mediocrity. Very few seem to have real pride in what they do. However, this creates worlds of opportunity for pro paint correction specialists. ;)

It has nothing to do with the insurance companies! There's alot involved with doing the "right thing". Most shops suck and don't ask for the proper things required to do the proper job. Plus, when they do get paid extra, they either don't do it or they screw it up. An insurance company cannot deny a proper repair as long as the vehicle in question is justifiable. I can see painting a whole side, but not the whole vehicle just for a color match. Not practical or needed.

On a side note, I was recently at Aston Martin factory authorized body shop and they had a brand new solid black DB9 that the fatory resprayed a quarter panel and it didn't match the door. They claim because the car is sprayed with water borne paint on the line and when they repaired it in solvent, it was enough variance to cause a slight mismatch. The shop is now painting almost the entire side for a proper match. And it's black!

How will a "paint pro correction specialist" fix or eliminate a poor color match?
