07 Vette Lemans Blue (Menzerna Prep lots of pics)

Stellar job Ryan! I am a "prep guy" just like you :D

What is very effective to remove dust, polishing oils and residues is to apply a alkaline degreaser with foam gun over the whole car. Rinse it with a power washer and then dry it with waffle weaves. When the car is dry, do a IPA wipedown.

The car is now ready to be sealed.

Ryan, check out my process on the black Beemer ;)

I had seen that beemer and that came out great! I know you are a great prep guy and I found out about 3.02 from you back in the winter. Thanks for everything Marcus!

I will also try some of the CG new wash and gloss. I have heard it is strong stuff too.

My regular wash gets all neutrilized fast by all the oils. I just make sure I wipe each panel after each pass now and this makes the wash easier and the suds last now. I notice this more with the po85rd. That's why I like the 106 better.

Wow! :shocked

Excellent work Ryan.

The finish looks better than 99.999% of the Vettes that you see at car shows.

Thanks John!

That is what I was trying to achieve...I succeded:heelclick

The embedded severe water spots were a pain on such a hard clearcoat, but I got all 1071 out:scared: I was very shocked I got out everyone as it was something from the factory and I could not believe how dull the finish was. She is flawless now though.

Customer is going to maintain it with Zaino himself to keep it looking great forever.

Amazing as always !!

In the past, I used 1z Acrysol to remove the oils from the polishes. I misted the car with the solvent and some QD to no induce swirl marks. Nowadays, I normally use an AIO via PC or via rotary and I get nice results.

Regards Ryan !!

Thanks buddy!

I do not get any marrinig at all with the prep solvent I use. I do a very light wipe and do a qd right after. I also am starting to do it before correction also now, it makes the buffer slide easier. It removes alot of the water dried residue that normally causes friction from the dried up calcium deposits. I can wipe down all the paint only in 10 minutes or under.

How are things going with you? Have not talked to you in a while.

Ok, I'll try this method in my next detail :bow

Things are going fine, enjoying details like yours :wow:

Now I'm trying to protect my car as much as I can because I had problems with bird bombs, so I'm layering some SG and I'll apply 915 over it. Maybe I'll finish with some Opti-Seal.

Maybe one day I'll post some details, I've to translate them.

Regards Ryan !!

My only issue with Menzerna pro polishes are the oils left behind and a wash will not even get them off, unless you rub and result in marring. I now use Prep Solvent to remove the oils lightly and have found this to work 100% effective with no marring at all. If the sun catches these oils then you will have a very hard time removing and your LSP bonding will have issues. However the polish lubricating oils are the best I have ever encountered. Every product always has it's pro's and con's.

Do you think this has anything to do with the Menzerna claims in this thread: http://autopia.org/forum/detailing-product-discussion/92227-products-contain-excessive-silicon.html ?

Interesting enough I don't have a problem wiping away the residue at all. IME some towels do better at it than other. Meg's Ultimate Wipe (and towels like it) is very good at removing the residue and leaving a clean surface.

Yes that also has a lot to do with it. I also just make sure I shake the bottle heavy for 5 minutes straight and every 30 min.
