'06 Z06 Corvette 0-60 time and MSRP

I think it is better just to give credit where its due, instead of bashing brands. I will always have respect for Porsche's 911. They have been incredible handlers and machines. It should just boil down to respect for the cars, which is what I felt Autopia was all about.

One of my big beliefs is that it boils down to how well its expressed, namely in the detail. In this area, it is fair game, whether you drive an F40, a C6, a VW, or a cavalier. The best finish, I always say, brings the house down.

But....I will take one of those (vette Z06) and one of that (250GT!).

the whole arguement in this thread however was over just that.

Sterted there, then went to, "I'll take a Cayman, the numbers don't mean anything to me." Then became a "this car is better because the numbers are better" argument.

Loggin' off for the night, have at it, I'll pick up again tomorrow--

.... i dont think anyone has mentioned that the 505 hp that it has been rated at is actual wheel HP and not at the crank. , so at the crank i would guess its more around 550-580.

No one has mentioned it because that is simply a false statement. The 505hp number is GM's "official" number for crank horsepower. That said I suspect these cars will put around low - mid 400's at the wheels. Given a 20% drivetrain loss due to the independent rear that puts them close to 510's-520's at the crank. Having owned and dyno'd a few GM muscle/sports cars that is about on par with their 10-20 hp under rating.

As an aside...my dream garage would have an '06 Z06 and an '05 997 turbo. :2thumbs:
