06 GTO with mini reviews (56K careful)

I don't see a digital ignition so how do you take timing out of the engine?

do you run colder plugs with that shot?

are the plugs a pain to change on that car? (like on the lt1)

sorry just some dumb question from a fellow juice head

12.920 @ 109.40 MPH is the fastest showroom stock time. Most cars are trapping from 106-108 with a low 13 run.

To pull timing you have to go in through the OBDII port with tuning software. I personally don't have any timing pulled. I have TR6 plugs in there which are one step colder then stock. The plugs took me about 2 hours and I had never changed plugs on a car before. Unlike the F-bodys the plugs are very easy to get to from the top of the engine.

thanks

I think the rule of thumb is 1 degree for each 50 shot so you might want to look in to that.

but then again you might be ok with the stock computer controling the engine

my experiance with the juice is on traditional small block so things are a little different

looks great good luck with it!

Damn 150 shot!? Be careful with that and dont spray too many times, cuz that will f*ck sh*t up fast! lol She's a beauty though!

not if you know what you are doing!

I run a 200-250 shot and get countless bottles and over 100,000 miles out of a engine

but yes if you do it wrong.....boom

One guy with a GTO has 83 15lb bottles with a minimum of 150hp shot through his car with stock internals. FWIW Honda's and American muscle handle N2O very differently. A 150 shot on a 6L V-8 is very safe.

A guy at work has an 06 GTO just like yours but in black. I couldn't believe the paint defects for such a new car, turns out he runs it thru the auto brush car wash every other day! It really looks like he went over the whole car with steel wool! What a waste!

Very nice paint for an aussie made two door holden commodore. Most don't like them over here, except in elizabeth where the factory is. About 10 miles from my house

And I love your car. I was about 5 minutes from getting a '96 Impala SS in the red color. My dad and I were taking it from the dealer to a friend's house for his dad who is a mechanic to look at. 5 minutes from his house the car dies. Couldn't find another that I could afford.

Thanks man, but you got a hell of a better motor. Over at the Impala forum, if you post a question about LSX motors vs LT1 they all say LSX is FAR superior. It's not a simple conversion for the b body guys, but I've personally seen some of them running at the track and they are fast. I've seen a couple LS1/T56 converted B cars which is cool, but there are some times when I would definitely like to have a straight shift with a stronger motor in a smaller car.

I forgot to mention that this happened back in 2000 when I was getting my first car. I couldn't afford the insurance on an LS1 powered car, but Impalas were pretty awesome with an LT1. Plus they are super comfortable.

Always read different when looking into nitrous for my LT1 TA. Everyone would say, ya its safe, blah blah and then continue to tell about how they had to rebuild after 30K of running nitrous. I still think its bad, the stock internals aren't made to handle nitrous and eventually stuff will go bad. Now if you build for nitrous (forged), then ya, you can shoot for mucho long before having problems.

And FWIW, my Honda Accord V6 can handle nitrous well (so I've read). And I come from more of an american muscle background, so dont let the name fool you into thinking I'm a ricer who thinks all nitrous is NOS. LOL

I was just saying that a big shot for a honda is a 75. I just thought that your frame of reference might be a little different then mine. It's also all about your safety measures. You put a $300 universal kit with a nozzle and a button, the simplest mistake can break you car. I have a window switch, wide band O2 monitor, fuel pressure safety switch, progressive controller, so everything needs to be perfect for the N2O to fire and if something goes wrong, my wide band will tell me so and I can shut it down.

Adding nitrous isn't any more stressful then a blower, turbo, etc. The engine's rods and pistons still have to handle the power. Nitrous is pretty well figured out now for safety, most of the major problems came before all of the safety measures were figured out.
