Bryan, if your viewing this thread, "Thank You"....
Awesome client to work for!
Awesome vehicle to detail!
Even more awesome to drive! (Potrero would have been nice eh?)
Bryan called after having cared for the Porsche for its first three months, and had some swirls and fairly deep scratches reveal their ugly colors....Neither of us are sure how the scratches got there, but between his love for the Porsche, and I think some dealer work, ahem....GLAZES, it needed a little additional TLC...Beautiful Graphite Silver (Or whatever Porsche calls it), really glistens in the sun. I went to work first with a Green Pad, and SSR 2.0, that didnt get me far. Bumped it up to Green and 2.5, not too much better. Then Orange and 2.0, that was the first indication I was on the right track. Then I realized my PC was doing something strange, rather not doing something with the Orange. It wasnt rotating properly. Luckily I carry one for small area repair, so I swapped out BP's, and hit it again with the Orange Pad, 6" BP, and the 2.5. That was a world of difference for sure. After about 1.5 hrs on the hood, I progressed to fenders and roof, then to the rear. Wrapped it all up after about 4 hrs......And by then it was dark, so no pics that day.
So in an attempt to return for pics, Bryan asked that I swing by anyway, as there was something he wanted me to look at a little further. It was those hood scratches again. Two side by side scratches, about 8 inches long. The edges were very rounded and subtle, but bothersome to Bryan (and me after seeing them in better light). He even admitted, you can only see them under ideal conditions, but it still bugged him. LOL. (Bryan treasures this Carrera, as would I) The two of us were a little overwhelmed after the first attempt, as both of our inspections failed to see them at that point. And I seriously thought they had dissapeared, but a little better lighting brought them back. So I used the 4" Orange pad, with some more 2.5, and polished lengthwise for several minutes, again. I told Bryan, that was about all I was comfortable doing, as I like to stop before I "think" I should stop. Sort of a little safety cushion if I may. Sometimes when dealing with dark colors, and scratches, you just learn to live with what your dealt, and the consequences of owning black (or dark). It just cant be perfect, all the time, if its a daily driver....So heres a few pics....(I cant get over the fact I actually got to take it for a lil spin....)
And a very happy...ME !
