This car kicked my a** over the last two days, six hours to JUST wash, clay and clean the HRE wheels which had not been cleaned in over THREE years.

Originally I was to have three days to work on the car,but the owner was sending the car to his dad and the transport company screwed everything up for me by arriving a day early, anyway 19.5 hours later.......

WASH:CG CW&G

CLAY: GI purple coarse clay using GI ph nuetral soap as lube(slickness)

WHEELS: GI new wheel gel(saved my but, HRE polished lips so no strong cleaner on these)

TIRES: P&S natural tire dressing

CORRECTION: MEGS 105 w/ GI evp pad prime GI white fast cutting foam pad GI extreme cut w/ GI yellow polishing pad and evp

POLISH: GI evolution polish w/ GI blue polishing pad

FINISH POLISH:MEGS 205 w/ SM arnold 5" finish pad

LSP: GI signature sealant followed by concorso applied w/Flex DA

The start of a very long day

Could the wheels be any worse?

This had been on the paint for who knows how long? needed 2500 grit sanding

DSC00266.jpg

Ladies and gerbils, this is the kind of detail that separates the Bob's from the boys! Very nice work, Bob :2thumbs:!

Thanks, the only separation I was feeling is my arm from my body, BY FAR THE WORST WHEELS I have had to correct in a long time. I did a F-150 truck in the nineties that had Centerline full polish wheels and those were slightly worse than these.

The HRE's were configured that I could not use a power ball, and a dremel tool would have left a hologram, by hand it was (manual labor style)I did not keep exact time of how long each wheel took but it was over 1.5 hours a wheel.

Epic work Bob, the wheels were a disaster but the paint really caught my eye in the end. The overall deep glow is just awesome, especially considering the prior condition riddled with RIDS. I know this was a tough job but damn this is top work, go relax! :wow:

Off today at the shop getting last minute things done by contractors, and yes recovering from yesterdays job as I am not a spring chicken anymore (understatement of the year!!).

that's an awesome job,i work at a MB dealership/bodyshop and i come accross cars like this one everyweek,i cannot believe how bad these customers treat these cars, unbelievable, and a F.... SL AMG ?! i'd probably smack the owner, they clearly do not deserve that car

Wow, what an incredible turnaround Bob!!

Amazing how some people let their car get before doing anything about it...

Good thing they found you to bring it back to life.

Seriously great work!!

Thanks Rick, at least the next car up for that client who is a great guy btw is a brand new WHITE Audi R8(thank the heavens) but his son's car will be tough an Audi A5 BLACK which is pretty new but with ahh issues shall we say.
