'04 Infiniti G35 coupe detail

1 Clean WS6

Detailing Rottweiler
Hey all!!

Have I mentioned lately how I love the current generation G's and the Z's ??? What makes this particular G even more special to me is its owner. Not only did he convenience me by dropping the car off at my house to get detailed but he is a true "car guy" having owned a turbo charged S2000, a modded STi and a pullied '03 Cobra in the past. Each of which he tracked and drove like they were on fire...my kind of people indeed. :mohawk Heck...he calls this car slow!! We must have talked about cars, mods and racing for 2 hours before I even started detailing. It's clients like these that make the day in and day out of the detail profession worth every drop of sweat...reason alone to keep on keepin' on.

The car is an '04 coupe with about 22K on the odo. It has been lowered and fitted with 19" Enkei rims shod with Nitto rubber. At the moment those are the only two mods. It is a daily driver and had not been waxed or polished to any degree since it was purchased. Below are some pics and a description of the detail. Please pardon the poor lighting and rain drops in a few of the pics as I was battling scattered t-storms all day.

Enjoy,
Mike

The detail...

Wash with Meg's NXT shampoo

Clay with Clay Magic clay bar using Meg's #34 as a lube. Even though the paint felt smooth after washing the clay pulled off a significant amount of nastiness.

Polish with Meg's #80 using a Meg's 8006 pad and my PC set at 5-6.

Glaze / Polish with Meg's #81 using a Meg's 8006 pad and my PC set at 5.

Seal with Meg's #21 using a Meg's 9006 pad and my PC set at 4. I let the #21 set on the paint for approximately 45 minutes before removal.

Rims are sealed with #20, exterior glass has been VM'd and the tires are dressed with two coats of Z-16.

The car looks great man. Real wet looking. I like it. In your process I took it you used #80 first, #81, the seal it with #21? Kinda new at detailing but I thought the Polishing was before the glaze, then the sealant? Is that the way you meant to type it or did you actually use #80 first, #81 second, and seal with #21? Is you used that route what was the reason you used the glaze first? How would you compare the durability of #21 to say EX-P and UPP? Thanks.

That's good ole Meg's screwing with your mind!! #80 (though called a glaze) is truly a polish while #81 (though called a polish) is really a glaze!! Hence my #80 - #81 - #21. With proper maintenance #21 will give 90 days without a problem.

That silver looks juicy wet ...

bsdsys_x86: #80 is more of a polish than a glaze. It's got some abrasives but still leaves the surface looking very wet and even hide some minor defects, if any. #81 being non-abrasive will add to this.
I'd say 1 layer of #21 would be more durable than 1 layer of EX-P or UPP. Once you get to 3 layers, though, it's a different story ... I wouldn't bother with more than 2 layers of #21.

Oh ... nice garage too, btw ... I was gonna ask for pics but I think I've seen some before.

Thanks guys. That clears things up. Wonder why they call #80 a glaze and #81 a polish? Guess it's like you say. Megs. screwing with us. You would think a newbie that wouldn't think about your post and to ask questions about it would go out and do it that way and end up not being happy with the results. Either way. I know now which is which. Thanks for the info. Car looks great.

Looks Great.. Very wet!! I really dig your shop shelves. I remember seeing pics of all your stuff :drool

Greg

Do you feel the #21 gave a warm bright feel? Found it very unique on silver with the right prep! Great work, more pics of the garage :D

That looks great Mike. There's nothing like a shiny silver car! Now he can go back to the dealer and show them what a new car should look like! :lmfao :rofl

The garage looks great too.

That really looks great... nice work! My wife has same year / color sedan, and I love working on it. The finish reacts dramatically to different products... some go several shades deeper, others produce a nice wet look. Your pics look dripping wet! :bigups

Mike, thanks again for all the hard work, haha, you didn't even mention the interior. This is my car, and yes, for being a year old, it was in pretty rough shape. With no garage, driving through back n forth up and down the east coast..... let's just say, it looked much older than a year old.

But I'll tell you now, I have a new likeness to my car all over again thanks to you. Thanks again, will be calling you in the near future!!!!!! Have you had a chance to put up those two items I dropped off with you? Hope you and your family liked them.

THANK YOU all for the kind words!! :)

Jay I figured we best not mention the interior!!! It's now clean and that is all that matters!!!! :D Thanks so much again for everything and it was an absolute pleasure meeting you. My wife and I love the dragons...they are just beautiful. We truly do appreciate them and can not thank you enough. Here is a pic of them on display in their new home...

Awsome work :) so which car was the fastest??? :)turbo charged S2000, a modded STi and a pullied '03 Cobra??????? I raced a pullied 03 cobra with full exhaust with my 5.0 and boy was that thing fast! I had him all the way up to 100 but after that all i saw was tail lights.

STI for 60', street trim with only exhaust, 1.69 - 1.70 every time. After that, the Cobra by far was the fastest. It's just too much torque for the first 2 gears, and 3rd if your agressive. Kinda bad for a street daily driver, being able to spin the rear on good tires at 70mph just by blipping the throttle quickly. S2000 was good on c16 and 11lbs of boost, but.... not quite the same as the other cars..... Plus the drivetrain is the weakest link on that. Any true car enthusiast knows that without the drivetrain to harness the power, it all means nothing...... Mike, I'll be contacting you soon.
