03 911 Turbo

I detailed this car for a member here... he'll chime in with some comments and a few whole car shots within a few days, since there was no good light when I was done...

The owner first contacted me after a shop, which he'll hopefully warn others about, charged him $200 and he wasn't happy with the detail... at first I assumed they skipped a few things, like vacuuming certain places, one or 2 windows were left dirty, etc...

NOPE... just take a look at the before shots...

Oh and I took the first 3 before shots to show how dumb it looks when a before photo like my before #4 is posted, then an after photo like my before #1... car looks amazing, but when you scroll down :shocked :hairpull

Process: The car ended up about 90-95% perfect since it looked like the previous detailer used a very abrasive polish and I had no clue how much of the clear he actually took off...

there were holograms everywhere and many of the swirls looked like they came from a "great" rotary job...

the owner and I agreed initially to take it easy on the cc and make it as good as possible, and once I saw the actual previous "job", it made the decision to leave out #84 and/or #85 even easier

anyway...

Wash: Meg's Gold Class, wheels got wheel brightener 4:1

Dry: Cali blade and meg's water magnet

Clayed with Meg's Smooth Surface clay

Polish:

Meg's #83 orange pad rotary @ 1500 RPM

FPII LC white pad via rotary @ 1200 RPM

Zymol Carbon on top (first time using it :woohoo: )

Meg's Hyper Dressing on all exterior trim and wheel wells 2:1

Meg's NXT on tires

KSG on wheels

Mother's on exhaust tips

Plexus, iirc, on clearbra

Interior:

Vacuumed everything

Meg's hyper dressing on all interior plastic/trim/vynil 2:1

Lexol on leather

Stoner IG on glass inside & out

Took a little over 8 hours

Thank you (I hate how this forum has the minimum character rule for a reply, thus why I'm typing all this crap up right now, since I can't just say a simple "Thank You"... happy now forum ?)

Isnt that a PC i see?

Yes... I tried out FPII with PC/white just to see the difference... part of the hood that I did looked the same, but I did the whole hood anyway just because I'm anal :nixweiss

It'll come with experience and references... one of the reasons the owner of the 911 hired me is because I detailed a 996 GT3 a few months ago... I don't want to sound too optimistic, but little by little I imagine I'll have more of these cars coming my way.

very cool / hows that for zero OP !!! :

Yea amazingly enough the car had very very minimal OP, except the rear bumper which he had repainted recently but they did a horrible job... you can't tell form the pictures, but there are sanding marks covered with cc, overspray, etc... I didn't touch it since the paint was fresh and he'll be repainting

Yea, I also found it unacceptable that he paid $200 for all that... I told him that for $60-80, many shops do a "full detail" of that quality, but an extra $100-150 is really bad... even though it's far from him, I really hope he shows them these before after pics... not that they would believe it, but all the after pics with flash and sun up there were taken before Zymol, so nothing should be hiding

hmm.. I tried posting a reply but I guess it didn't get posted. anyway, Ill try summing it up again..

Ivan did an amazing job. I couldn't be happier with the results. As he mentioned, I had previously taken it to another detail shop and they ended up doing more harm than good (I won't mention any names). Ivan came to my home and was very professional. I immediately noticed his attention to detail and was very comfortable having him work on the car. He understood that its more important to preserve the integrity of the clearcoat than it is to remove 100% of the flaws. In the end though, most of the previous damage had been corrected and I was extremely satisfied with the outcome. It's just a shame that by the time he was finished, it was too dark outside to take any good "after" shots. I tried snapping a few this morning with my crappy camera. Most of them didn't come out very good.. but here are a couple of the better ones:

Beautiful work. Carbon is an amazing wax. It has its own prowess that allows it to compete fiercely with any lsp!!! I enjoy seeing the Zymols at work.
