03' 50th Anniversary Corvette

This car is a 2003 50th Anniversary Corvette with just under 30K miles on it. It was traded in towards another Corvette in stock at my work. We decided not to keep the car for inventory because of the overall condition and high miles. There were pretty deep scratches on almost every panel of the car, especially the rear fascia. We decided to clean it up the best we could and run it at the auction to get rid of it. Took me about 6 hours total.

My process:

~Wash complete exterior

~Cleaned wheels & engine compartment

~Clayed complete exterior

~Wetsanded heavily scratched areas of the car with 1500 grit followed by 2000 grit paper

~Compounded wetsanded areas with Powergloss using a Meguiar's burgundy foam cutting pad

~Buffed complete exterior with SSR2.5 using a foam cutting pad

~Buffed complete exterior with IP

~Hand application of Werkstatt's Prime

~Hand application of Collinite Insulator Wax

~Dressed tires & wheel wells with Super Blue dressing

~Quickie interior detail

nice wetsanding.. I would've done the same with those bad scratches.. you probably saved a lot of time wetstanding versus attempting to rid them with a pc or rotary. I too like the PG with burgundy or white pad on wetsanding areas. It really brings it out without hazing. Nice work

Excellent work Rick, the paint looks 1000% better! :bow

I just have to ask though, why so much effort if the car is going straight to auction?

Wow, did the owner let his dog (s) jump up & play on this beauty or what ? That's a lot of deep scratches everywhere. Great job removing them. BTW, any idea of the final auction selling price ?

Great work Rick. I would love to stop by your detailership when I am in Beantown this July and watch a master at work on a C5. :bow
