'02 MPH built Mustang GT detail

Hey all!!

Today was a wonderful day as I got to spend the entire day at one of my favorite clients...Modular Powerhouse. Modular PowerHouse The owner Tim, his wife Rhonda and the entire crew over at MPH are some of the nicest folks you would ever want to meet. MPH is one of the premier Mustang tuner shops in the Southeast...if not nationwide. They are a Kenne Bell distributor and I swear the "slow" cars at their shop have 450hp to the tires!! If you have a Mustang check them out...I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

This gorgeous '02 GT really got to me...one of my favorite MPH details so far (and I've done a few of them). Not only was it tastefully modded and a beautiful color (Mineral Grey) but it was very well maintained. It had some moderate marring and a good bit of bonded contaminants (as most cars that spend an extended period of time at a tuner shop do) but it was clear the owner cared for this 11K mile steed. Under the hood it sports a forged and stroked 4.6L for a total of 302 c.i. It was of course topped with MPH's signature...a big honkin' Kenne Bell and puts 600+ down to the rear tires. :nervous2: Below is a description of process and products used.

As an aside I'm sure my fellow ATL folk have noticed...pollen season has officially begun.

Enjoy,

Mike

Wow Kenne belle in the house!

Mike, where's that trade mark shot of yours? Can't do the mustang huh? :D

That paint looks like wet glass...yummy :). Love the look of the tires, too. Nice work, Mike!

What's with the cheeseball steering wheel cover :D?

Nice write up on the car Mike. It looks great. Can't wait to see it in person. I'll have to take your advice on not using so much wax. I was checking out the list of products you used. I have most of those in my supplies. I bought alot of the poor boys product last year to use on the car. Guess I just need to learn how to properly use them.:)

Thats a very nice pony ya got there. I see you have a roll bar in there. What do you get in the 1/4 mile. My old time from last year is in my sig horrible run but my best. Mine got a couple new big minor mods for christmas. Ive only had mine for about 5 months and I have only put 200 miles on it since I have owned it. I have to learn how to launch this thing. I should be mid to lower 11's.

Wow that looks like one strong car. Do you have the stats.

I don't have all the current stats from the newest tuning. Before the current mods it made 620rwhp/591torque on 17psi. I haven't seen the current dyno sheets. Only thing I know right now is that it is at 640rwhp. We upped the boost a bit. Don't have any track numbers for the car.

Thanks for all the compliments everyone. Honestly, i'm not really into racing the car. The only time it's been to the track was about 3 yrs ago with a vortec sq trim. It ran low 13's then on street tires. My suspension isn't really set up for the track or launching. I use the car as a nice weather toy in the summer and go to alot of the local shows. I would imagine how the car sits with a decent launch it should run high 10's low 11's. I'm sure I wouldn't be the driver to get it there though.:) I bought the car new in may of 02. In 5yrs it's only got a bit over 11,000 miles and that's with a trip or two from ohio to Modular Powerhouse in GA.

Awesome and a sweet Mustang. I wish I lived near MPH, im a member on their forums and they are running one hell of a business. Im sure that GT would put some Cobra's to shame :grinno:

Great work on the detail, paint looks verrry reflective.

Hey Mike, just wanted to say it was great to get the chance to talk with you last week. Thanks for the tips on detailing the car and what products to use. Hopefully I can keep it looking as good as you have it right now.
