For those of you who do not know mike he's a great guy. Here is his ride, his pride and joy. He loves this thing. I received it in very clean condition. The car was as clean as you could hope for. He curb rashed his ADM's the week before! yeah it was a shame.

The first few pics are of the wheels. He's got a lot of pitting and some chipping. I went real light on the cleaning on these. Just car wash and elbow grease. When in a tough spot i used a old piece of megs clay to break free the junk.

Time for cleaning the rims = 1 hour 20 min.

Wash time for car = 1 hour 20 min.

After the wash, everything looks great untill I start to clay.

This was the dirty horrors of 292's car and Clay. This was kind of a freak thing. I thought the car was nice after was as it had a fair amount of reflection left. As you can see from the clay it was very dirty. The rear bumper was covered in a mix of needle point sized tar and pin head sized orange dots. The rear bumper was an hour and a half process to get rid of everything.

Claying time = 3 hours.

292's clays on the left and right. New clay in the middle. DIRTY! On a side note i stopped using the clay on the far left because it was sticking to me, my gloves (latex) my camera, my spritzer bottle. It hat reached it's life expectancy. The clay on the right is from doing his rear bumper. 100's if not thousands of thos little black and orange dots.

PS that clay was pinnacle

Poor boys polishes, wash, wax, and trim stuff.

Carpets and headliner cleaned with bac-out.

yeah he wanted to see the process via updates, he was very worried i think about his baby. He just opened a new resteraunt 4 months or so ago, so he's been at work 16 hours aday. He was blown away.

I have to give props to you(scottwax), accumulator, piccus, spoiledman. Your posts have helped me a great deal. I am by nature a methodical person when working, but if i had not spent the time reading all those posts i would not have produced this for him.

For my 3rd detail, i am quite pleased with it.

Couple of lessons learned.

1st, I'm a much harder critic than my customers.

2nd I can not complete a car to my satisfaction in a day.

3rd i have alot more to learn.

Very nice job, I am the same way you are...I am very hard on myself and sometimes I hate the way a detail comes out, because of things I am not being paid for like scratches, chips, etc...But the customer is then blown away and I still feel bad it wasn't perfection. I too take my time detailing and usually spend at the low end 8 hours on a detail, usually closer to 11. I work during the day so my details usually take place from 11 pm till whenever I am done the next morning.

The detail turned out great, sometimes I wonder how pro-detailers can finish full details so fast and not tear their hair out stressing out about not getting every nook and cranny perfect.

It's funny you should say that, All a4's with painted lowers look like that at times. drives me freaken nuts. I don't get it.

It looks right at one angle but totally off from a diferent angle.

If you search for my a4 thread. you'll see mine and it's the same way but mine is factory. On mine and other painted lowers the lines where the lowers intersect with the rest of the body are right as the light changes and shadows.

at least that is what i am telling myself.

"Glass= 45 min Yeah it takes that long to make oily streaky glass that clean 3 cleanings on his glass inside and out."

I take it you PCd the glass, what did you use?

I clayed the windows when i clayed the car.

But the intervening dust and grime had built up on the exterior.

I used a non ammonia aresol spray on a waffle weave mf towel for the bulk grime removal. Then I folded it over into a clean quarter sprayed the spray on the rag away from the car, worked an area, then wiped off with second waffle weave towel. This left it clean enough for most people, here I grabbed a glass velvet mf towel and buffed it till the streaks were gone. Changing towels as needed.

The owner had not really known how to deal with the streaking, so it had gotten progressively worse in some areas on the inside. This required multiple treatments of the above steps. There may be a faster way, I am not sure. I just took my time and was very thorough about it.

Nice work - I'm still surprised after I clay a car that really needs it, makes a huge difference.

In time you'll get to where you'll be able to do a car in a day, trust me. You're doing good work now, and as time goes on you'll just get more and more efficient.

Cheers.
