I should be happy!

So next month my wife and I are going to Vegas with a couple of friends (another married couple). As a kind gesture since they are putting up the room with time share points I told them I would detail their new-ish car. I was planning on doing a full correction and CQUK since I still have some left. They said that sounded good but today I got a text from my buddy saying don't worry about it because his wife is going to have it detailed next week when she gets the oil changed. :wall I should be happy as hell I'm not going to put 10+ hours into something for free. So why do I feel insulted?! :lol2:

I was lucky to stay in a really nice time share at Vegas a few years ago and it was great!!!
Have a great time there! Be sure to get over to Maggiano's Italian Restaurant, for some awesome food..

I think you feel that of course, your process and skills would leave their vehicle so much nicer and all, and that's what we do, right ?

So, they decided to get the oil changed and use a coupon or something there and get it done faster, etc., get a "deal", and not have to put you out..

That's my take..

Their car's detailed condition will be short lived... :)

I had my father-in-law do the same thing to me a few years back. He had a brand new vehicle he had just ordered in. He knows I detail. I offered, he said he had a permanent coating put on at the dealership and anything I did would detract from what had been done. I too, was insulted. In retrospect looking back on it and the condition of the vehicle today, I'm glad I didn't touch it. ;)

Thanks Dan. I'm sure you are right. Very short lived and they probably don't really care anyway. I will definitely try out the restaurant. Do you recommend anything in particular?

My mom did the same thing a few months ago. She paid the dealer like $750 to have her car coated even though I said I would do it. I've only seen it in the garage and on a very overcast day so not really sure how it really came out. She didn't want to hassle me with it. I guess people don't understand that some of us actually enjoy doing this stuff.

If ya go to flamingo, let me know :)

What's up at the Flamingo? We are staying a little off the strip but I'm open to what to do suggestions. Usually I eat, drink, golf and relax but all the courses will be under maintenance for fall aeration and overseeding next month so I will have a lot of extra time to do other things.

I think I understand that. When you say you are going to detail their car for them, it means a specific thing to you and is a time consuming project. Unfortunately, I suspect that your friend's wife sees an ad for detailing at the service station and assumes it is the same thing you offered to do so she replaced you with the service station job. You feel insulted because the job she bought isn't what you were offering to do and you feel that she is equating you with an inferior job.

At least that is how I would see it...

Anything in the Pasta selections is fabulous ! But actually anything on the menu is too..
I just happen to really appreciate the basic Italian meals..

I think that if they are like the one I used to frequent in Bellevue, WA., and San Antonio, Texas, if you order from a certain part of the menu, they will complete your order and you can also order something else from that menu and they will have it packed up and ready for you to take home when you leave - and its FREE...

Yeah, they really do that... :) You will NOT leave there hungry.... :)

Their home made bread and dipping oils are outstanding - just dont eat too much because the food plates are generous; the salads are incredible, and dont get me started about their chocolate cake and ice cream dessert ! :)

There may be some good shows to go see when you are there too..

Oh, they dont have 4th of July Fireworks displays there either - ask me how I know.. :)

(Anything to keep you IN the Casinos) :)

You will get to see the car later anyway, if you really want to...

I had really good friends like that in WA., ... They loved me so much they didnt want to put me out to Detail their black Mercedes vehicles, but I did it anyway.. Just takes timing... :)
And their cars - Beautiful Black Mirrors Rolling... :)

Enjoy your get-away !!!

I'm all about basic Italian too. However I always eat a lot of the bread so I have more entree left overs for breakfast :D We have seen KA and Love out there. Both good but not great.

Exactly. I hope I am wrong and that they do a great job but I have seen a lot of hack jobs out here. Is it ego or just caring though? I suppose a bit of both.

I almost forgot about that. I still haven't been to an actual good steak house so I might have to go there.

If you're specifically looking for a good steak there are other places I might recommend. Several of those being Cut, Prime, Ramsey's and Canal Street in The Orleans (I like this one and think it to be a relative good value, all things considered). Now if you're really wanting some good prime rib, Lowry's is definitely worth a try. I've been to a couple of Lowry's in different cities and they haven't let me down. For Seafood, the Rio has a great seafood buffet. It's fresh and harvested in the basement of the hotel. They have a tour to let you see their mini ocean. The Orleans too has good seafood.

Golf is expensive in Vegas, no matter where you play. You can usually get on one of the courses in Mesquite if your willing to drive an hour north and their green fees are more reasonable.

Lawrys or steak house at harrahs or circus circus

or go to paris and have the steak frites at mon ami gabi
