So the time has finally come for my car to actually get the tlc everyone else is getting. So should it be polished to a ridiculous gloss and than coated or polished to perfection and than protected under a bullet proof DIP which can be seen on bmw's "frozen" look?

I cannot do both as the dip will not adhere to cq uk.

Frozen silver

My car last year after a quick pass with ff3k an hydro

Most matte dips look awful but to me the frozen look is very classy on certain colors. Silver metallics being one of them.

Of the few BMW's w/frozen finishes I've seen in person, they've all looked very cool. Granted, BMW only allows this limited edition finish on colors that will pop (in a matte sort of way.)

For anyone who hasn't seen it - Larry @ AMMONYC recorded an in-depth DRIVE CLEAN video from BMW North America's HQ last year about a)what is a frozen finish and b)how to maintain it. Interesting video, and well worth viewing.

I'm torn between the two haha

Theoretically you can do the DIP and if you don't like it in a month or so just take it off.

If I were you I would wrap it up with Xpel Ultimate and then coat that.

You will have the look you want and protection from chips, you can maintain it just like paint.

IMHO, Plasti-Dip is a solution for covering blemishes or for small trim, not for the whole car.

That's what I am thinking too. The frost look of that BMW is pretty sweet but you also can't go wrong with coating. :thinking

I wish, even with my skills an tools to xpel a whole car is out of my budget an skills set. The s60 has some mean curves, talk about a pita...

$3 and a pack of #0000 steel wool will get you a frosted look. ;)

Seriously however, I've said it many times in the past, I'm old school and make no excuses about it. Make that puppy shine and be happy. Flats and frosted don't float my boat anymore than someone spending good money to make a finish look like it has old paint on it. I've seen a couple of flat blacks, one on a Cadillac and one on a Mercedes that looked pretty nice but when I step back and actually consider making the comparison to a well maintained shiny finish I just couldn't bring myself to make the investment in a flat.

me personally gloss but my brother's business is vinyl wrapping loves the frost and matte look. so were always arguing about that lol

Come to Cali! I'll Xpel Stealth with you on the whole car! In fact if you work the 4 days I'm wrapping the car I'll only charge material! Btw I expect you correct and coat no less than 14 Tesla's in that time :) Kidding but If you going to DIP it get ahold of Brian Dubinsky he with a company that formulated a special kind of plasti dip that preforms way better on cars and is much easier to remove if you ever want. I've been playing with and it's awesome compared to regular plasti dip.

Lol, I think I could get done 10 before I'd pass out :)

On a side note, I have been looking for jobs out in SoCal. I'm staying out here in NY for the summer because now is detail season and I do love summer in NY, the city is just electrifying. I may be by you by the end of this year :D
