How much do you spend on your *wash media*

GRRR.....another perfectly sound SS mitt relegated to wheel duties.

I have the worst luck. On my DD, jet black, sometimes I can't see where there may be road tar, etc. Especially with the brutal winter we have hd, the underbody, lower body is caked with just sand, salt, tar, asphalt , etc from driving on freshly repaired roads where they have done pothole repair.

I got tar on my $$$ MFM drying towel last year. Spent more time using tarminator, etc , cleaning, rinsing out the tar/tarminator oils out of the towel than cleaning, drying the car ;-)

Last night, I touched a area where there was sticky tar that I did not spot with the SS mitt dedicated to the upper body paint.
I'm not going to go to town cleaning the mitt with tarminator like I did with the towel. I just hate going through the mitts with the lifecycle I am going through them at time.

Heh. I've had my eyes on some MFC Incredimitts - and this was the reason why I have not bought them yet.

While everybody talks about spending money on polishers, waxes and other expenses, proper car care really boils down to proper washing. I always recommend people invest into quality wash media..

IMO, there is nothing finer/softer for a car's finish than one of the Aussie Merino Lamb's Wool Wash Mitts for regular washing. I also have become quite fond of the Lake Country Wash Pad, particularly when working on soiled areas that may stain the media.
 
Heh. I have a good 2 bakers dozen of hand picked SS mitts.
Washing/Drying Media is the most crucial step in all of *car detailing* to me.
I always used some level of WAUD when drying.
Did you remember what WAUD is ;-)

My biggest fail / disappointment for 2013 was the Merino Wool Mitt though. I just don't like the way it feels on paint. I could not get a good *feel* of how dirty a panel was between the paint and mitt. It may be a personal thing on this though.
 
Done it numerous times myself :wall

PB has a micro bug and tar towel. I use it for the lower panels to keep that from happening now (as long as I think about it).

It does a great job. It's almost like a microfiber mesh towel

I have a number of different options I use based on vehicle and level of contamination.

(1) - Lake Country Wool Wheel Washing Mitt - Wheels and Fender liners
(3) - MF Micro-Chenille Noodle Mitt - Heavy Dirt & Lower Panels
(3) - Megs MF Mitt - One of my normal wash mitts
(2) - Lake Country Foam Car Wash Sponge - Rinseless mostly
(2) - White ShMITT - Rinseless & regular wash
(2) - CarPro Wool Wash Mitt Full Size - Coated Cars that are cleaner
(2) - CarPro Wool Wash Mitt Mini - Coated Cars that are cleaner, Jmabs and tight Areas
(1) - MicroFiber Madness IncrediMitt - Personal Vehicles only
(1) - MicroFiber Madness IncrediSponge - Personal Vehicles only


I think I have a problem with collecting wash media...

Heh. I'm not the only one using a Schmitt. Use my Black Schmitt for wheelwells where I Can stick my hand in. Love to scrub with the Black Schmitt than anything else for wheelwheels, given the clearance
 
I have a merino wool mitt that scratched the paint on my vehicle. The green knobby mitt from autozone works great. And it passed the CD test. I highly recommend it.

Other than Dodo SN mitt
Carpro wool mini and regular size
and MF madness are the best IMO
 
I've been using the Microfiber Madness Incredisponge for about a month now and love it!

Ideally if you do conventional and rinseless washes I'd get both the sponge and the mitt. I just went ahead and got 2 sponges but sort of regret I didn't get 1 of both.
