fluorescent yellow stains on new car?

Thought the scratch was in the lower hood. In which case they can blend the rest.

I would not let them buff it breakers are hacks. You will get a hood with severely reduced cc. Especially since I bet they use a rotary.

I second what he said. If you didn't get any improvement with any polishing of your own, chances are it is through the clear or too deep into it.

I really didn't want to let the dealer touch it, but that was the only way they'd explore other options to fix it. I instructed their detailer to only touch that portion of the hood.

Update 2: Dealer just called and said they were able to remove the staining. Maybe my polishing without the DA just wasn't enough.

What should I check for on the car to make sure they didn't butcher anything? Obviously I don't have a paint thickness gauge so I can't tell exactly how much CC they removed from the effected area.

Thanks for all the help guys! :bow

Please keep us in the loop. I would just inspect the paint in direct sunlight and look for the obvious signs of hackness.

I am also slightly concerned with the amount of material they have removed chasing that scratch. Yes a PC might not have been aggressive enough, but you should have seen SOME reduction in staining (otherwise it was DEEP)>

I may not have been totally clear, but my test with SSR 2.5 was using it on a microfiber, not via PC. I wont have access to a spot to do a full detail until next week. (Struggles of apartment living) So I usually just have to get by with ONR washes in the parking garage.

Is there an easy way to gauge how much they removed? I plan to inspect it with a flashlight as it is supposed to be raining in S. Cal for the next few days.

Thanks Todd!

Richard Lin in in Anaheim, he owns Show Car detailing and is a very good friend of mine and outstanding person. If you get a chance swing by and I'm sure he will go through all the possible options to see what it takes to remove it for you.

Richard's a great guy, actually was at his shop once for a detail clinic years and years ago. Sounds like the dealer got it taken car of, going to grab the car in an hour or so.
