Greetin's all, been a while since I've been on any Forums. I see many of the usual Facebook suspects still hanging around. Retired bliss doesn't seem to leave much time for posting etc, I guess I used to be most active from work on midnight shifts. Tough duty :D

Not much in the way of detailing to report, no need since I've got Opti Coat on all my vehicles. I've got some lined up around Daytona this winter... yeah, another winter in Florida. It really sucks to be me :lmfao

One of the projects that got put off for eons was turning the 3 1/2 car garage into the Garage Mahal I've envisioned since building my secret Lair in the Woods 18 years ago. Finally got a round tuit... got started at least. First step was the floor... moving 18 years of accumulated crap and finding places to put it was grueling. After looking at do-it-yourself coatings, tiles and professional applications I decided to go all-in and hire it done with no corners cut. This is something you *don't* ever want to have to do twice. I ended up stumbling across a local outfit called Ultimate Overlay that does all sorts of applications.

Ultimate Overlay, Inc.

Here's the before pic with the surface getting ground down:

After grinding they burn out any oil or solvent spots with a torch before cutting out cracks, patching, etching and pressure washing. Then they use an epoxy sealant before a full broadcast of the speckly stuff (technical term). Since they do a full broadcast leaving no under layer showing there was no color to the base. The top coat of clear epoxy gets an anti skid called Shark Grip added to it.

Here's the finished product:

No-slip when wet, oil solvents etc wipe right up and supposedly impervious to scratches or marring with a 10 year warranty. About $6 sq/ft done over 5 days while I was out of town on a bike trip. Leave a crappy floor and come back to a showroom. Nice! :)

When I return from basking in the warm sunshine in April it's time for cabinets. I shall think kind thoughts of those of you up to your eyelids in snow shoveling your butts off :D I can't believe I lived in that crap for 56 years!

Congratulations, old friend !!!!!

The Retirement to Sun-Heaven and a new, stunning, floor for your Garage-Mahal is absolutely beautiful !!!

Would love to install a really nice Home Theater System in there, complete with a couple of smart flatscreens a really good Receiver, and some killer Def Tech Speakers....

Your car working/detailing life is about to begin again in what looks like Nirvana to me !!!

Im also moving out of the frigid Northwest in a couple of months, and now have to decide exactly Where in the sun do I want to land????

Enjoy, dude, that place is unbelievable !!!

Hey, Bud, thanks! Tough picking a destination. Anywhere with year-round livable weather is unaffordable to us mere mortals. (think: Santa Barbara to Monterey or thereabouts) Those places that are warm in the winter are unbearable in the summer. Figure on doing half n half for the foreseeable future myself. Renting for 4 months is a lot cheaper than the overhead and expense of trying to keep up with two properties. This year I found a place walking distance from the beach with an in ground pool. Oh geeez, decisions, decisions! ;)

Don't think I'm going to install all the frills in the garage, then I'd have to build another so I don't get this one dirty. D'OH! Besides, I don't need a man cave to hide from a ball n chain. :)

Good to see you back TL. The garage looks spectacular.

Mi Amigo !
Yeah, I have spent much time along the Monterey/Carmel area and it is without a doubt, the most perfect place you would ever want to live !

I mean, awesome beach access, perfect weather, Ghirardelli Factory, pretty much everything a man would want ! :)

One of my girls graduated from UCSanta Barbara, and the weather there is around 70-75 deg which is so pleasant compared to other places...

But as you and I both know, it is impossible to live there unless you are David Crosby (who grew up there), Paul McCartney, Ophra Winfrey, Michael Keaton, and a host of really rich people, etc...

I have family in Cambria, along the Central Coast, but it is pretty cold there all year and also very unaffordable for many...

If you ever get out there, you need to go to San Simeon' and visit the Hearst Castle that belonged to William Randolph Hearst, the great newspaper bazillionaire...

I might not be able to afford there, but there is always lots of nice places in the Southwest with lots of sun... I really miss it...

Enjoy your place/s !!! You dont need to make it a man cave to have good TV and music ! :)

Riding the coast from border to border is on the bucket list.

Considered that but I find the brownness as depressing as winter's gray. For a few weeks in the Spring when the desert is in bloom before it gets hotter than blazes it's very cool though!

Main reason I picked Daytona for the winter headquarters was knowing people there and it's a motorcycle mecca even outside of the crowded, noisy bike events. If a guy wanted to assure keeping warm in Jan & Feb he'd go farther south.
