RUPES

I already have a 21. I am so pleased I just order another 21 & a 15 yesterday. Next on my list is the LHR75

Rupes 21 for me...5" Backing plate and KB washer.

____________

If I only had two polishes they would be Megs M101 and CarPro Reflect

The Rupes 21 mm stroke is hard to beat with the other da's available. With todays compounds and mf pads they are getting close to rotary performance. Last time my Makita came off of the shelf was with a wool pad to clean cloth seats with dry foam.

Do both cut the sane or is one machine better then the other performance wise?

i'll give a slight edge to the rupes 21 with washer mod for cutting, otherwise almost identical performance wise.
its all preference and what your use to.
If your use to rotary get a 3401
if your use to DA get a Rupes

Makita 9227C Rotary, Flex PE14-250 Rotary -

The Flex3401VRG is forced rotation but it spins counter-clockwise, which is apparently difficult for some to adapt to. I never had a problem adapting to this.. 3 different sized Backing Plates are available for it. Too bad I hardly ever use it..

As a full timer, I have a PC, griots, flex, and rupes 21

really not that impressed with the rupes. I mean its good, but real correction work I'd take the flex anyday. And yes I've done the washer mod which does make it better IMO. The flex is totally my workhorse.

With that said, don't overlook the griots. For the price, the griots is a winner for me. Although obviously can't stand up to the flex

Typically for correction jobs

PC with 3in pads
Griots with 5in pads
Flex with 6in pads

I swap between machines based on the panel been polished.

The Rupes I use more often for cleaner wax / AIO type of work since I'm not really looking for very much correction in the end result
