In response to some misinformation...

Dang , there are fourteen people looking at this thread at the same time. It's strange what catches ones attention. I might as well throw my 2 cents in here also. First I frequent many detailing related sites as well as a ton of automotive sites. ( Retired people have too much time on their hands lol. ) I have used free products from more companies and vendors then I can remember. When doing a review it is only fair to let the readers know how and why you received the product. On the 3D promotion I also received new products for review on four forums. I have used other 3D products and liked some and other not so much. I seem to remember a honest review was all that was requested. There wasn't even a stipulation that they be detailing forums. Often I have seen the same reviews on AG , Detailing Bliss , L2D .and more from the same member. Never once have I wanted to follow anyone around and post negative comments or harass. When I see a duplicate thread on a quantity of forums I just pass over them and go on. We are on these forums as guest. They provide at no cost the opurtunitty to share ideas , techniques etc and the owners to sell the products. A win/win for all. So in closing I think Todd has responded in a clear and professional manner as he always has as I have grown to expected
from him.

My take on this since for a while I participated in it. Is that posting your review on multiple websites which I do and almost any review I do is so not only can I reach the largest audience in informing others but to also get the most varied opinions. Not everyone who details is on every forum so by doing so I'm allowing the most criticism and response to come to me so others and I can learn.

As for the thread, yes it blatantly disregarded what was previously requested but the reaction of people for completely destroying someone's reputation and absolute hate was disgusting even after he apologized multiple times. If you don't like the thread don't read it, simple.

I do appreciate the thread Todd and understand and respect where you're coming from with it.

I agree ,seems like to much work to me!:D

Id rather pay and get the full size!:inspector:

Some people like just trying out new products and being able to expand their knowledge base on product selection, it is work and takes time but it's all cost/benefit per person. And whether people realize it or not, even if the product is free it still costs time to review it, take pictures, write a review and opinions and follow up with questions to other people.

I understand that! For a lot of people its a win-win !:bigups

I have too many detailing products already and dont enjoy typing so I would need more incentive to do a reveiw then free product.

What amazes me is all the trouble ppl will go through just to get free product

:swirly:

:rofl

I agree completely. It's not worth my effort to write a review and post it on four forums to save a few bucks (but I might change my mind if it's a free 2014 Corvette). Nah, that's still too much work.

Todd is completely within his rights to do what he did.

I wasn't bothered by any of it or the "giveaway".

I just think its amusing someone would jump through those hoops to get a free 15 dollar bottle of car soap.

Yes the OP was un-rightly attacked and seemed to be genuinely apologetic. I restored his reputation and hope he comes back. If I had seen that thread going down hill I would have closed it.

AutopiaForums will remain an open community and we will continue to ask that if you received a product for free from a vendor, manufacturer or reseller, that you disclose it. It is the only way to make everybody happy.(except those who had something to gain from a lack of disclosure). If some manufacturers choose to market their product in a way that every review written about them causes great deals of skepticism, then that is their choice. We will do our best to maintain an open policy despite this.

All forums have a personality. AutopiaForums, much like DetailCity that preceded it, and the original Autopia Forums that preceded that, were built on the open sharing of knowledge which fostered a sense of community. I appreciate the self-policing nature of this forum and the respect we have for one another. It tells me we are the right course.

The beauty of the "system" is that you are free to visit, join and participate in as many forums as you would like. Pick the one that fits you. There is no competition, just different flavors. We chose to hold ourselves to a higher standard.

Sincerely, thank you for making AutopiaForums a stop on your internet quest for detailing knowledge.

I become leery of reviews since the news of the fake reviews on Yelp and others. I post on Trip Advisor some and I give the hotel a honest review. However, if you read a bunch of reviews especially on a big hotel, you have to wonder if these folks stayed in the same place. The only thing I can figure is maybe they are privately owned condo's and some are MUCH nicer than others. I see that all the time down here at MB.
As far as reviews on car care products go, I'll put it this way, I trust a few people I've seen on the forum and even then, ymmv......
It raises too many red flags when someone starts posting about how brand X is now the BESTEST and allows the average man on the street to become a Paul Dalton or Todd Helme just by using it. The obvious line of horse-squeeze is Danny Koker's headlight polish and trim dressing, Danny! love ya big guy, but Da-umm! You sold out bro...
I had a close buddy kinda half serious ask me about that headlight stuff, I told him that if it did really work, every detailer I know would be using it, I mean - think of the time and effort saved! Bon jour

In my observtion its usually the ones who complain about drama are actually the worst ofenders.

Certain people like to create Trouble and and then act all so innocent.:popcorn
Not naming names!:D
