direct tv

PA, since you live in Penn, just be careful where they place the antenna, I live in buffalo and during the winter I have to go out a couple times during snow and get it off the dish, thank god it is low enough that I can get it off with a broom, just some food of thought, because if you can't get it off you will also lose you picture. One last thing if you get heavy rain be prepared to lose your picture. I have had DT for 5 years because of the football package and have finally the other day because we lost our signal do to ran switch to cable.

well, cable has reached $75/month which is BS. anyone have direct and how do you like it? i see if you order on line all equipment and install is free. just looking at alt. at this point. i am sure it has it downfalls too....

Wow, I wish my cable bill was $75. With just basic cable mine runs $120, and add on interweb it makes the bill to $180. Metrocast is just killing us, I've looked into satellite, but my gma has it and I just can't handle all the cutouts and inclement weather cutouts. I wish we had Comcast Infinity like my family has up North, but living in the middle of nowhere we're lucky to have cable...

Awesome!

Once you learn the ropes, get yourself a Harmony Remote to control all devices and have fun, enjoy it, and don't forget to record the Direct TV Original Series.

Did cable beg you to stay? Did they offer their first born to keep you? LOL:rofl

they really did not put a fight. just asked why? and who did you go with.

If you got the rf remote you don't really need a harmony - I have one and just use the rf - it controls my sony av system which is linked to my sammy tv - one power button turns everything on, controls volume on sony everything else off direct tv -

the current glitch, and its not a bad one is its hooked up to a toshiba all in one TV. DVD AND VHS built in. when he programmed the remote, he was glad to see it worked. he said your the first one i got it work on that kind of tv. now the only issue is, when you power off, the TV still stays on. you need the TV remote to shut it off, or right at the TV. i went thru the steps to review remote programming, and really could not find why the DT remote is doing this. other than that small issue, its great.

wanted to add...of course if i slide the switch on the DT remote to TV, it will shut off the TV.

My TV, Sony Sound System, speakers, etc. are internet & wireless, so Harmony works great for me in both rooms.

The Direct TV remote can be a pain to program, but it will operate all other devices, even though you may have to use the dip switch.

IR choice is important. You'll get it. Play around, experiment, etc.
