Poorboy’s World Quick Wax

I washed the DW's Mazda CX-7 that seems to be her personal trash can. Well, granted my 11 year old boy does his fair share to contribute.

I didn't plan on posting this detail as I was just going to do a wash and clean the inside. Nothing special. So no before pictures.

Started out with the foam gun only because my son loves to spray the car with it. Foam gun with PB SSS + a squirt of PB Bug Squash.

I'm interested to know what y'all think of the foam gun process. It seems like an extra step to me that affords little to no benefit.

After foaming I washed with 2 bucket method using PB SSS and a Shmitt. I think I'm going to try a sheep mitt. I scrubbed the whole car and after rinsing I found a couple of spots I some how missed with the Shmitt. This is not the first time this has happened.

Inside was cleaned with a combination of PB APC, PB NL and Sonax Dashboard cleaner. The inside was filthy! I didn't spend time on the stained seats.

So why this post? Well, after washing and cleaning the inside I wanted to wax but did not have the time nor energy to do a proper wax. I recalled I had an old bottle of PB Quick Wax I had not used in well over a year. I had fogotten how easy this product is to use! It took me a very short time to apply and buff off and the car looked pretty darn good after. The suface felt slick. I need to use this product more!

What do you use for a foam gun? I use the foam attachment that came with my karcher and feel like I'm wasting my time as well because it doesn't build up a good foam so the dwell time is too little to be of use. One day I will either get the mtm or acc unit for better results.

well,
love my foam gun. i have the gilmour one too. seems lika a "extra step" but the idea is to coat it with the foam first. this way it starts to loosen the dirt etc... before your mitt touches the vehicle. it does not replace the bucket(s) it was never meant to.

car looks great BTW!

Thanks! I know it is not meant to replace the 2 bucket and I always do that. I just question the value. It is fun! Love seeing the foam blanket the car. The boy is always willing to help if I coax him with the foam gun.

LOL. first time i used mine i was like "no way, this is so fun, etc...." not to mention the looks from neighbors and people driving by!

When someone finds a good use for a foam cannon, let me know. Ive never saw the need in it except for the fun factor or putting on a show for a client. Maybe I could mix some Krud Kutter in one and let the kids foam my house or something lol.
Nice review btw. This is a Poorboys product I havent tried yet. Might have to put some on my next order :)

When I had my foam gun, I'd add some apc to aid in stripping. Don't know if it really worked or not.

PB quick wax is a under rated item. Good stuff. Quick and easy

Ive been seeing guys use IronX in it and say it works. I could see using one if its doing a job like stripping or decon if it would save time, but Im looking at it from a business standpoint. If I was a hobbyist I would probably have a different outlook. I still want one but I would prob use it more on farm equipment and things of that sort.

Sometimes it all about the presentation to the client. That said, I have seen a benefit when I used to maintain a G35 for a client. That paint would scratch no matter what, but the foam master greatly reduced the marring and extended the length between polishing.

Foam gun may be a waster of time, depending on how you use it. If you use it to spray the panel down while your wiping it, like the Ammo NYC guy does, that may be beneficial.

I use a foam cannon with a pressure washer. It does seem to help a lot. By the time I touch the car, most of the dirt seems gone. Anything to minimize the risk of marring on a black car for me.

When you use the pressure washer, are you leaving the foam on the paint?

I see two situations for foam (either foam gun or cannon). A pressure washer can rinse (dislodge dirt) better.

1. stripping - soap mixed with apc or other non-ph balanced soap to strip. You can rinse, foam, rinse then whatever wash method you use

2. foam prior to wash - rinse well, foam without second rinse, wash using your own method

I foam, let it dwell a few minutes, then pressure wash it off. Then, do a 2BM or rinseless.

Yes QW+ is one of those products that is a hidden gem. It gives you a bit of cleaning ability with a good coat of wax.

Just be careful if spraying as it tends to stain black trim.
