Rookie Mistake

Opened up my trailer doors today to find a sight that no one would want to see! Oil all over the floor! The bottom of my Dewalt pressure washer was covered in oil. So quickly hitched up my trailer and took it to the local pressure service center. The guy looked it over and then delivered a bomb. Told me all my gasket had cracked and all seals were blown! And as if that wasn't bad enough the vavles expanded and were not in perfect alignment anymore. He told me it ain't even worth the repair. The machine is about five years old. :(


So what would you guys recommended for a replacement? Don't really need the 3000 psi but would like it around there.
 
So, was it left Pressurized last time you used it and shut it off??

I have used gas powered pressure washers for decades and have never heard of or seen what you described happen to yours...

When you asked him "how did this happen"? what was his reply ??

So, the pump itself is a separate unit, with its own oil supply, bolted to the pressure washer unit, right? That is how it is on the 2 I own.

Can they not just remove the pump, replace the pump, and you are good to go ?

I must have left it with pressure in it, I usually dont. I left out that it froze and thats what caused all this mess. The pump is separate from the actual pressure washer, so yes i couldve just switched it out. But where the pump and the pressure washer are connected, is where its cracked as well.
 
The power of frozen water is awesome, I had to get my manifold on my boat (4 banger Merc) welded after I "thought" it was all drained and winterized!

Ohhh that makes more sense now. At first it sounded like you had a shady shop that just wanted to sell you a pressure washer.

I wish I could help you on getting another. I don't have much experience with them. I've only used a couple Karcher electric ones myself.

Good luck finding another one!
 
Ok, thanks, makes sense now.

Yeah, they cant have any water in them and be exposed to freezing temps, as we all know, it will totally kill them or anything.
car engines without adequate antifreeze can sometimes crack heads, radiators and stuff the same way.
Sorry this had to happen to you since its more than the pump and the actual motor to pump part..
