I didn't see it or have anything to do with it, actually I was on the forum only briefly yesterday and Thanksgiving day for that matter. I can honestly say the only avatar I've ever changed has been my own.
Hmmmm,the mystery deepens!
The biggest share of posts deleted or edited have some type of sexual innuendo involved. The posts that follow almost always take the thread off topic and ruin the initial value of the thread. I see this most often in the Chat Box.
Not really sure where that is coming from. This site has very little issue with posts being edited. It does have a few problems with certain members that choose to continually push the boundaries of good taste.
Several of my posts have been deleted over the months Ive been here so it has been an issue for me. If you or any mods here have a problem with my posts I would appreciate being told so directly or in private .
Thankyou! These members are often members that have been banned on multiple forums, are involved with multiple accounts and generally see themselves and their actions above and beyond any forum's rules. All to often, even these type of members get far too many chances to become valued forum members.
The set of Moderators that are presently involved with Autopia Forums would much rather leave posts just as they are. They are genuinely interested in having Autopia Forums be the premiere forum for discussing detailing on the Internet. I believe that in all sincerity.
As far as posts being edited goes, there is very little of this that goes on at AutopiaForums. This forum chooses to keep a clean image and allows people a wide latitude of topics and discussions. Simply said, we are a forum that touts a reputation of being fine for all members of the family to read and in which to participate. There are posts that may seem innocuous when they are being made but occasionally begin a series of responses that end up going places for which Autopia Forums would choose not to be known. A bad word, a bad phrase or picture can end up being fodder for a search engine inviting a reputation we would not wish to have.
I see comments like this on many different forums, people making a big deal about their "rights", "free speech" or even the "legality" of having a post edited. These type of comments are beyond amazing. In almost all cases these are privately owned forums and as members we are subject to the rules of these forums, should we choose to participate. A forum chooses how it wants to appear to not only it's current member base but those looking to join. Hopefully our members like the general nature of the this site and that is why they choose to be here. I think it's pretty easy to see why a forum reserves the right to not allow a post to go all Willy Nilly where the forum's reputation is at stake.
Occasionally a post has some merit to it that initiates other replies that also are worth reading. Before you know it you've got a pretty good thread going. However the initial post may have some inappropriate content in that post. Rather than kill a thread and all of the relevant good information that follows, a post needs to be "cleaned up" (edited) in order for the thread to remain.
Should you be a member that has had a post pulled or edited, particularly if this has happened on more than one occasion, the thing to ask yourself is why? Most members on this forum never have one of their posts removed or altered. If the posts you make are in good taste and do not invite inappropriate responses you have nothing to worry about. Peace.
