Political Threads

At the present time AF does not have any particular rule prohibiting political discussion. This of course assumes that the discussion is both civil and respectful. The most recent political thread has been closed for the present time. It had degraded to the point that there was no useful information being discussed.

There are several that have complained about reading this type of thread on a Detailing Board. Well... we have an Off Topic forum, it's open to Off Topic non-detailing related discussion. There is however a problem that has cropped up as a result of the recent political thread. This is it plain and simple, racial and religious slurs, slams or jabs will not be tolerated. Some of the people doing the whining about the political thread are the ones that are actually breaking the forum rules. You know who you are. We're hoping that this is simply a matter of "nuff" said. All discussion directed to members or others that may potentially read this forum should be respectful. Participation on AF is a privilege not a right, treat it as such. Should this type of name calling and finger pointing continue it will result in your account being closed.

AF is first and foremost a Detailing Forum. The bulk of conversation should be directed in this manner. We do however allow other types of discussion to transpire on this board. If you don't like what is being said, perhaps it would be better if you avoid the Open Discussion parts of the forum. If you find yourself in conflict with a particular member's posts the ignore feature is available. The staff on this forum is quite thorough when it comes to reading new posts daily. Objectionable posts that break forum rules are removed.

I think that as long as the political threads stay respectful and simple then AF should not have any issues. Just remember that everyone is going to have a different opinion on everything. No matter what it is. It's when these opinions turn into personal attacks that things get out of hand.

This is a detailing forum but a few threads here and there on current events are ok.

However, when these threads turn to name calling, racial slurs, and attacks on other forum members then these will not be tolerated and action will be taken.

Remember folks this is about products and methods to keeping our cars looking their best. I think we have tons to talk about regarding this

Too many just cant controle themselves when it comes to politics.

I've never understood ppl who belly ache over threads they don't cotton to. If I see a thread that doesn't intrest me, I simply don't view it

I concur GH, if you recall back to the ODC the thread about being able to carry a gun in public, went off the charts. However it remained civil and most of us agreed not to agree with some statements. I suspect that political threads will be the same, and thanks for pointing this out. When members of the forums start to fling hate words at each other it creates a very bad environment, no matter what subject they talk about

The thread I recall simply stated things in a factual manner. We can agree to disagree, but facts are facts. Just like a car color. If a car is deep red, then it is deep red. There is no disputing facts.

Anyway, lets just all move along.

So me asking everyone to Vote for me as next president is a bad ideal? I would promise to insure strick regulations on all detail shops and car washes to ensure America has the least amount of swirled up vehicles in the world! And to to keep America great I would make it law that your vehicle must be properly waxed at all times! In school I would make "proper car washing" Mandatory every year starting in preschool! And my last promise would be to sufficent laundry service avaible to bring back to life the most dirty of dirty MF towels to help with my "War on Swirls"!!!!! Thank you VOTE FOR ME!!!!!!!
