Parking Lots- A car's lovers nightmare?

I'm really surprised and appalled as to how a good number of people are inconsiderate and have no respect to another's property. They seem to have a hard time understanding the simple rule of consideration and respect. And they get mad at you for it.

Entitlement.
 
I also park as far out as possible. People do not care anymore about their vehicles. You will notice that alot of individuals will respect your space when you part here. They understand what you are doing, etc.

One of the things I have noticed, while shopping for a new 2012-13 vehicles is that body side moldings are not available as an option. You have to go aftermarket. Some dealers will do this for you though. When is the last time designers went shopping at a grocery store or mall.

You have to remember the automakers would rather you buy a new car every 5 years rather than make cars that will last for 15-20.
 
I also park as far away as possible, against a curb but someone always manages to park next to me. But what freaks me out more is when someone sits in their car, at the gym, waiting for the parking spot closest to the door then gets on a treadmill! Anyway, I try and drive my old truck to the store/mall. I least I can rest assured that my new car is safe.
 
I was just talking to one of my customers about some upcoming projects he has for me ('35 Ford and '66 Vette :rockon ) and he was telling me how his '98 C5 Vette was damaged.

He and his wife pulled in to a little small town cafe for a coffee and donut. He parked the car and was just stepping out when a lady walking out of the coffee shop told him "Nice car. It is beautiful." They exchanged pleasantries and went on their way. As he was grabbing the door to the coffee shop, he heard a loud crunch. :(

The same lady that complimented him on his car backed into his quarter panel. :mad: When she got out of her little SUV, she told him she didn't even see it there. :lmfao

About a month later, he was T-boned in his black extended cab dually while stopped at a stop sign. The guy that hit him was pulling out of a used car dealer and stated "I didn't even see you".

I don't even want to take my cars out of the garage anymore.......

Tell me about it. I get paranoid when I'm driving, thinking all of the other vehicles are out to get mine.

On my way to work last Friday, I was literally seconds behind a Durango drilling a Cobalt on the highway. The parts in the road were still spinning and sliding down the road when I got to the vehicles.

Saturday afternoon, a lifted F350 with a car trailer full of crap took out a minivan to where it ripped off the left front wheel of the F350. Shortly after passing that accident, I watched a kid in a Gran Prix just blindly pull out into traffic on a busy highway causing several cars to hit the shoulder and the ditch to avoid multiple collisions.

All this in two days, and a few miles from my house.:crazy:

On a cart and door ding note...
I leave notes and license plate numbers of people who place carts against vehicles when I see it. I even take a picture with my phone of both cart and person who did it. All notes say i would be happy to be contacted as a witness. Call me crazy but this action causes losses to insurance on the victims part. Personally I think it should be charged as vandalism and a loss of license till restitution is paid in full. People who rest their door while exiting included.
 
Well about 2001 before 9/11, I was at Kmart picking up a item there and was there for about 5 min's and like always I park at the very end of the lot. To my surprise I find 3 carts up against my truck and saw damage to it. I was not a happy camper and later find out it cost my over $1000.00 bucks to fix :wall. One takes a risk with their ride when in parking lots everywhere.

If it can be proven I would imagine so. It would be like someone opening their car door or tapping your bumper. If they don't leave a note it could be considered a hit and run or leaving the scene of an accident. Good luck on that in court though. Of course if the guilty party is confronted and informed that it will be reported as a hit and run they might be much more cooperative and willing to settle.

I had a note on my car a couple days ago. It said that the car in front of me had backed into my car and gave a number to call if I had any questions or needed a witness. Unfortunately for the Matrix that backed into my Subaru, I have a brush guard on the front. Thankfully my car was completely fine, the Matrix was not! Since the owner of the Matrix made no attempt to contact me I just shrugged it off and left. He can live with those hard earned gouges on his bumper.

Sometimes it's not just the cosmetic damage that you have to worry about. My dad (a mechanic) told me about a few incidents where bumps like that had ruined an automatic transmission, effectively locking it in park.
