Ford F350 Correction - TLC Auto Detail

Hi everyone. We have been staying super busy lately, so we are a little behind on write ups. Here is a monster F350 that Dan and I worked on last week. It is a 2001 and hadn't really gotten much care over the last few years. It was scheduled for a thorough cleaning and decon, as well as a one step correction to remove some defects from the paint.

Due to the color you couldn't really tell how dirty it was, that is until you looked at the built up gunk along the trim lines and crevices.

To start we foamed the vehicle with a soap mixture that was heavy on the APC to really break up the built up dirt and grime on the vehicle. While it dwelled on the paint, we agitated the trim, body seams, fuel filler area, and emblems to help break up the gunk.

After a thorough rinse we proceeded to wash the truck with Meguiars HyperWash and Griots MF Wash Pads. We followed that up with a shot of Iron X to remove as much iron from the paint as possible to make claying a little easier. After the Iron X we clayed the entire vehicle. Even with two of us this took a while since the vehicle had never seen a propper detail in it's life. After claying the paint was super smooth, but still heavily swirled.

To correct the paint we chose to use Meguiars D300 on Meguiars MF cutting pads via Meguiars G110 DA's. We were on a tight schedule so we only got a few corrected photos.

After it was corrected we applied 4 Start Sealant to protect the paint, then buffed it off after it had hazed.

We cleaned the glass with Meguiars Glass Cleaner, dressed the tires and wheel wells with Meguiars Hyper Dressing, dressed the trim with Sonus Trim and Motor Kote, and polished the chrome with collinite Metal Wax. Here is how the truck turned out.

That about does it. This was a fun project to work on, and we were very happy with the final outcome, as was the customer. Thanks for taking the time to read our write up, and we appreciate your feedback!
