Ferrari exhaust tips

I recently had a 2002 Ferrari with only 2,000 miles on it .It was pristine and my customer had just bought it.

Anyway the exhaust tips were a light goldish color and I polished with flitz metal polish to preserve the gold color, because I thought that was the original color.

But my customer thought maybe they were discolored and should be chrome color.

Ive seen gold tips before.......so anyone know how to tell the difference from"blueing"that turns the tips a goldish color and actual gold plated tips?

After researching a bit I think I may be wrong.

Which model? All the 308, 360, 430's I've done were silver. That's not to say someone didn't have it done. The problem with these tips is the heat chambers so close to the tips. Because they are rear engine a d rich at start up the exhaust doesn't cool much at all.

The 355 we did recently was also like that. We simply made them clean since we werent sure if they were suppose to be polished silver or not.

360's and 430's have a pebbled titanium exhaust tip. They will have a bronze cast to them, this is perfectly normal.

Use 0000 steel wool and a fine grade metal polish to remove the carbon build up. They, by factor of their material, will always look 'lightly soiled'.

Now that I look at a picture on my phone, the 360CS we just finished was like that also.

Thanks everyone for the replys.

Its a 575 M Maranello. The surface is not pebbled and is slighty gold color.

Sorry I dont have a picture.

Are the tips similar to the ones in the pic below? If so I would say they are gold as those do not look to be blueing from exhaust heat.

From what I have seen, the blueing caused from exhaust temps is kind of a rainbowish color, starting out blue, then fading into a washed out gold color.

Yes looks sililar but maybe a little lighter.

The color is uniform ,no blue or rainbow colors .The car only has 2,000 miles on it so I wonder if the blueing can even be caused in that short amount of time.
