'76 Porsche 912e

This car was a new acquisition from a client of mine who had chased this particular car for a few years and through a couple of different owners before he was finally able to call it his. The previous owner had used it for a daily driver, so it had some issues. My client was taking it to a Porsche gathering at the end of this month, so he wanted it freshened up. Another note, this car had been repainted in base/clear, it was not the original paint.

Process:

Wash: Foam with Meguiar's Shampoo Plus mixed with Optimum Power Clean, then 2-bucket wash with Shampoo Plus
Wheels, tires and wheel wells cleaned with Optimum Power Clean 3:1
Clay: Clay Magic Blue
Compounded with M105/D300 on Meguiar's MF pads/Griot's Garage DA
Polished with HD Polish on Green Buff and Shine pads/Tangerine Hydro-Tech pads
Sealed with HD Poxy
Tires dressed with AutoFinesse Gloss

There was a lot of issues to clean up before I started the detail. White residue on trim, dried compound around all the seams and more on the taillights.

The condition of the paint wasn't too bad, but it definitely needed some improvement.

Thanks for looking!

Fantastic job with amazing results!

What did you use on the rubber? That's quite a transformation.

Thank you! I cleaned the rubber trim with Hi-Temp Prep Wash diluted 1:1, and worked the residue out with a toothbrush. Then the car was washed and dried. That picture is without any trim dressing.

Wow, nice job on that car. Many Porsche's that age have dull, swirled up paint and seeing one in such good shape makes me smile.

I absolutely love that color, orange also looks excellent on those cars. I could do without the accordion style crash bumpers if I'm being super picky.

Great work Mr. Napoli, nice detailing especially.

Thank you! I don't know when this car was repainted, but it was pretty dull when I first saw it. It was a super fun car to work on though.

Thanks Conor, it is a cool color. I did some checking on 912registry and it looks like there are less than 10 remaining in this color. And I agree, those accordion bumpers are my least favorite part of this car too.

Great save there Mike, awesome to see another older Porsche saved!!!!!!!:yourrock

Thanks Angelo! :)

Nice job and great turn around.

I really like Porsche because even their old cars don't look all that old. The styling seems to stay close to the same over the years just a little more sleek

What a stunning car made better by you Mike! Vintage porsches are so classy!

Thanks Dave, I really liked working on this one. I don't do many older cars usually.

that's awesome mike. love the sky reflections in that gorgeous finish. great color.

Thank you Steve. I really like those reflections too, especially the ones where he's pulling it out of the garage. I had to be quick to get those pics!

Thanks! It's true, they've always been more about evolving their shape than completely changing it. Smart move on their part, I wish more manufacturers would do the same.
