Our opinion wanted (garage queen)
I have a vehicle that spends most of its life sitting in the garage waiting for a fair weather weekend to be driven. I take it out on the occasional cruise so it really doesn’t get very dirty. Paint is in exceptional condition, clean, clayed, corrected, then layered with CG black light, then Fuzion, and finally Souveran paste.

My question, rather than dragging the two buckets out and going the whole wash routine. What products do you feel are the safest to use to clean up light dust, possibly some road dust and a few bugs on the hood from driving.
I have been using Pinnacle Crystal mist and CG Hybrid V7 as quick detailers but have been wondering if I am on borrowed time before I scratch or mar the finish.

I have not used and Waterless Wash or products like ONR. Do you think they would be safer/better than just a quick detailer? Which would you suggest based on how the car is used? I figure I could always top with another coat of Souveran once I KNOW the surface is clean.

I would do a single bucket rinseless wash, and that is absolutely safer than a quick detailer. Whether you use ONR, Detailer's Pride, Blackfire, Ultima, etc... You will be happy with the results.
 
I picked up some ONR and Meguiars rinseless today. Usage seems pretty straight forward mix 2oz to about 4 gallons wipe dry. Should the mitt be dripping wet? I may try each tonight on a different part of the car to test them out.
 
ONR, DP. Blackfire rinseless and waterless wash is what you are looking for. Rinseless wash when its fairly dirty, waterless when its a little dirty or you have a few bugs.

Glad I only got some samples yesterday as I am now getting cold feet and thinking to myself, (don't be lazy) just wash the car. Wondering where all those small dirt particals that flow off are going to go without flooding the car with rinse water? In the door sills around the cowl, under the rear wing? Will I find those concentrated dirt particles once I do a real wash and drag them all over the paint? 90% of all the paint damage to the car before I bought it came from body mouldings and anywhere dirt could lay and once the wash water filled those areas it brought the dirt to the surface where is was dragged across the paint with a dealer wash mitt.

Of course it might be safer than my QD wipe downs. Sigh:crazy:

I agree that ONR washes should not be a permanent substitute for a standard wash for the reasons you stated. It is still a good idea to hit those areas with a pressure washer from time to time but it does a great job for the frequent quick wash.

I tried the ONR yesterday and was pleased with the results. It seemed much safer than just using a quick detailer. Since I am using a Android phone for this post I cant easily select the best pictures to post but here is a link to a album. Sorry some of these really shouldnt be posted, I'll clean them up when at home on the laptop. These are not pictures after using ONR rather some after using the following. CG blacklight, wolfgang fuzion, pinnacle souveran paste, trim, tires, appropriate engine pieces done in 303.




















 
What it comes down to, living in PA the weather is rarely nice enough to take the car out over the weekend. That doesnt change the fact that you want to do "something" to / with the car. Leads to a lot of detailing on something that doesnt really need it. Using a QD was my method of therapy but knowing the more you touch it the more likely you are to induce scratches and marring. I wanted something that made me feel better while wiping the car down that would lessen the likely hood of damaging the paint. Since I bought the car in Feb 2012 there have been 2 nice saturdays and one nice Sunday. Resulting in about 91 mile of driving, or at least with the rear wheels spinning :-)
 
Eco-Touch makes a very good waterless wash and when my garage queen (also red) has a patina of dust, I use it without any issues at all.
So there's another one for you to investigate.
