Separated by 40 years.... just a quick pic

Just thought I'd share a cool pic of my 02 Z06 lurking behind my client's '62. Exactly 40 years between these Vettes.

I love the Classic look of the early model but truly love the late model for styling and functionality.
I just took my 04 Z06 on a nice road trip yesterday, A/C on cruise set at 75 mph & averaged 32 MPG for the trip.

Beautiful cars, both of them.

I've gotten about 30mpg doing the same thing and when I tell others they find it hard to believe....haha, their loss!! :bigups

The '62 Vettes were/are great. First year for the 327 (IIRC) with up to 360 horsepower, revised styling, the mid-year rear end. As far as the C5 Z06, there probably is not a better bang for your buck for performance and style. Thanks for sharing the two amazing rides.

Thanks for the love everyone!

Now if my Sierra wasn't in the photo I could make posters and sell them!

Photoshop is your friend.... ;)

And either way, who cares? At least it's all in the GM family! (OK, OK, I'm biased, I have a Sierra too so I don't mind it being there).

Thats a good way of looking at it! They are all performance oriented too.... 450+ hp in my Z, 410hp in the 62, and my Sierra is in the neighborhood of 410-420 (it moves out fairly well :) )

Whoa! Supercharger?

I've been toying with the idea of dropping one onto my 5.3 as well :rockon

Yep! TVS1900 @ 6psi.

Get one! You won't regret it. I got mine to keep me from buying a corvette....you can see how well that worked. The truck is quick for sure.....but its NO vette. Since I used it as reasoning to not buy a vette and got one anyway, I've been toying with putting the truck back to stock.... If you wanna step into the supercharger game Charlie, let me know.

I tried the same thing by buying a Trailblazer SS. Had it for less than a year before deciding even if I threw a bunch of parts at it, it would still never be as good all-around as I wanted (plus filling the tank with what at the time was closer to $5 per gallon premium gas and only pulling down 11 MPG got old real quick). Stepped up to the Sierra and decided I could wait for a while to grab a 'vette to play with. Almost four years later I'm getting tired of the anemic 5.3L and still don't have a good place to park another car.

What kind of mileage do you get out of yours with the SC? With my truck being an '08 (Gen-IV LS) I could easily just swap in something like an LS3 or LS7 but I have a hunch the force-fed 5.3L would do better for steady cruising where my foot isn't constantly into the boost.

I'll pull down 20mpg on the freeway with the occasional wide open throttle moment. If I just chill @ 60mph I'll pull 22-23 mpg with it. Bump the speed to 70+ and you'll see the mpg reflect what is pushing that wind.....a brick! And result in ~17-18 mpg.

I usually chill in the slow lane and enjoy the leather, heated seats, and boomin stereo. All good stress relievers, so I like my spot in the slow lane :)

Gotcha; that pretty much confirms my suspicions that an SC would probably be the way to go. I already only see ~17-18 on the highway, but that's in a crew cab at just slightly less frugal speeds

Also doesn't help that I have to carry an extra 300# over the rear axle for half the year! :(

Thanks Jeff :yourrock
