ok so this car has been here for 6 days now and I've been working on in between other cars with any down time, and i'm finally at the 95% dog hair removal I promised. I have roughly 20 hours into just the interior of this ML. After reading this if anyone has a better way of getting dog hair outta of car IM ALL EARS! I will say with my hummus rock or how ever you spell it and this little rubbery brush thing I got the bulk out in like 7 hours. But it still looked bad so I kept going was pretty much agitating one hair at time then vacumming it or using compressed air. This is the only time i've ever gave an hourly charge on an interior and I'm so happy I did because any flat rate for this wouldnt of been enough.

after using every method I could think of lent roller, hummus stone, compressed air,10 different types of brush, vaccumming, the sticky tape roller thingy, duck tape, I even tryed to reason with the hair "Please go, dont you wanna go find a new home not so cramped in the car like a prisoner?" the hair didnt listen. So before I pull my hair out and add to problem here's as good as I could get it.(I hate admitting defeat its like that scratch you know should come out but just wont errrrr)

Ill post more pics later back to work some on this some more THANK YOU FOR ANY ADVICE!

For more stubborn hair I'll use duct tape and continue to pad the area and occasionally use tweezers....

duct tape didnt phase it that much tweezers work but one hair at time :wall.
Maybe I'll just give it back with a little hair in it and tell the lady she shouldn't let 14 dogs live in her car anymore

Whoa thats nasty! The only thing I can think of is Gorilla tape it's like duct tape on steriods. Not cheap though.

put a par of goggles on & go at it with a blow gun, compressed air from the compressor. that is nasty! dog hair jobs are the worst! good luck! what else did you find under those seats? yikes!

I am so sorry you had to deal with that dog-hair-explosion !
That is absolutely the WORST I have ever seen, and I have seen many..
Its even harder if the carpet is the type that doesnt "release" the hair easily like in Toyota vehicles.
You will never get it all out - it is impossible, it has gradually embedded itself down deep into the material. And every time you brush it with the rubber tipped brush, or anything, it will just bring up more.
All the duct tape in the world cant help because the hair is embedded into the material and will only come up as you brush it up in all directions.

You did a hugely AWESOME job to remove all that you did ! Congraulations !!!

If someone - an inventor, would design a type of rake that has teeth that are just the right thickness, in just the right spacing, with the most harmless to the fiber teeth design, that would go into the fibers in such a way to pull out the hair from deep within, it would be a huge success - hey, there is a tool like that used on dogs, to get the inner coat out when they start shedding. How about one of those really thin tooth square dog brushes that has lots of rows of thin wire teeth ??
Maybe that would work ??

Good luck with this !

HOLY SMOKES!! Tell her to cover the back with a comforter or something because the next time she comes to you for service you'll charge $45 / hour for dog hair removal....

Thanks Man the gorilla tape got it where it was exceptable

lol I did

Good grief that was bad. That was a huge turnaround. Hair is worse than
Vomit IMO.
I was more concerned with the hair in this car than I was with destroyed black tahoe lol. I'd rather do that agian then another car with this much hair in it, and there was nothing really fun about that tahoe at all except when I got done and it turned out good :yay

I have used a sticky floor protection product on floor mats instead of the paper mats. I have also used the same product for pet hair removal on large areas. I lay it over the surface, pat it down and then lift. It gets rid of a large amount of the pet hair, helping to reduce time spent on removal. It isn't perfect and it doesn't get it all but it gets a ton.

Heres what I do for floor mats at times.

Maybe the owner should have taken it to a Pet Groomer before they brought it to you? Actually, we get a lot of Outbacks with pet hair like that. I use the pet stone from TowelPros and a GOOOOD Vacuum! It still takes a bit of work, but a lot easier than tape and those sticky rollers.

With so many hrs working on it, I would just had replace the interior. Shame on the owner for poor upkeep on their interior of the vehicle. The sticky floor protection product looks very promising to me.

Ron, depending on the soil level, I had my floor mats covered for almost a month...I am sure there is a stickier product that could last longer, but I would then be concerned with losing fibers from the carpet....Its cheap, and easy so replacment isn't a big deal :D

Sorry to hijack this thread Jsmooth.

Thanks Greg. This sounds just the ticket for me on my wifes car. I must say she does a very good job of keeping it clean but with two kids and dirty shoes carpets can get dirty. So what I've been doing for years is to cover them with an old sheet and just wash it when it get dirty but it tends to get bunched up and pushed to the side sometimes. So what I'm thinking of doing is to just cover the whole rear carpet mats and all with this stuff. :)

I have one customer that drives a tan colored interior SUV and owns a black labs that sheds A LOT. I have had great success with this brush, mind you its still a lot of work but this pulls the hair even from the toughest areas.

Rubber Pet Brush

Glad to see you got the mess taken care of. I have one repeat customer that has a similar problem . I have used a combination of a few things to get the job done. My favorites are rubber dish washing gloves, pumice stone/shop vac and a damp microfiber towel.

After the rubber pet hair brush I wipe with a damp MF to pick up the finest of hair and lint. You know when you drop a MF it picks up everything!
