Ultima Paint Guard on new BMW wheels

While the wheels are new I thought I'd get a coat of sealant on them. Using the technique used here by Legacy GT:

So I cleaned with alcohol (20%) and then spritzed the wheel with Ultima Paint Guard and worked it in with the small 3 finger mitts sold here. They really "froth" up the sealant and get it into all the nooks and crannies. The dry backside of mitt was used to level it, and finally a single light MF pass to level again. Again, no buffing. walk away. This is easy!

Great minds think alike! I did this about a month ago and have been maintaining with UWW+ since. Seems to be an effective combo for wheels.

still sloughing off brake dust?

I used Rejex for years this way, but hated the dusting and getting the white crap out of the cannies....anxious to see if this is as good...
 
Wheels look great Glen.



I am using Opti Seal on mine as it is what I have. And you are correct. They are so easy to use I don't know why I would use any thing else.

saving my CS for the paint! - I bought the 12 oz bottle of the Ultima not knowing how far it would go....LOL

so it goes on wheels, etc where I can apply liberally...
 
If that holds up thats great because the BMW's produce so much damn brake dust within like 2 days theyre black! Definitely going to be giving that a try
 
starting in 2011 they used a better dustless pad that is not as black - the dust hoses off now with one swipe and a water spray - also, ONR waterless works well....but the Ultima is looking perfect after a few weeks...dust can't stick....
 
I have some UPGP but have never given it to much thought on applying to my wheels. I guess I'ma have to give it a try.

I currently use REJEX, but I'm looking for a better/easier product to apply to my BMW winter wheels.

Are there any long term updates on the durability of Ultima Paint Guard Plus and it's ability to shed brake dust?
 
I've been using 2 coats Opti-Seal with 2 coats of 476 over that. It's been on since April and I haven't used any wheel cleaners since. Just soap and water or DP WW. Dirt just falls off.

However-I don't have a brake dust generator like the BMWs,Audis,and the like.

Those wheels look great. Great job.
