Griots Ultimate Car Wash Bucket vs Traditional 5 Gallon

I have the Griot's bucket because my wife won it at Detail Fest last year. It is a very nice bucket, 6 gallons instead of 5, marked on the inside for volume, wash grate at the bottom (not a Grit Guard but similar), small indention on the bottom for soap but I can't remember how much it holds, also has a removable wash rack at the top to place wash media on, large handle, and of course wheels. Now my issue is my driveway is not level so the bucket will roll away, nothing some new locking casters won't fix. But for the last couple years I have been using traditional 5 gallon buckets. :)

I have two cheap Menards buckets and that's it. Sure I would like something better, but I don't know if I can justify paying for them being that I only take care of a handful of cars.

A friend actually picked up the Griot's bucket for me for Christmas. Some how she got it for $10 from Advance Auto parts -- apparently it was covered in dust and the manager thought he'd never sell it for $40, he cut her a deal since she was buying some other stuff. Never would have believed it but she showed me the receipt.

It's nice! The markings on the inside and the dual grit guards are nice, and the casters are good quality. I use it as my wheels wash bucket. I doubt they're making insane profit on it due to low volume production, and it looks like the bucket can only really be used for car washing. It might be a custom mold.

But would I buy myself.....probably not for $40. But I can't fault anyone for buying it if it strikes their fancy. It's a quality product.

Yes. It is a nice bucket. I'd definitely take it for $10. You have a nice friend to think of you. For $40 though...not so sure. Menard's (big box store) had a similar one on clearance for dirt cheap, but no wheels. Must be a rebranded mold.

Those are some nice features it has. I saw a bucket similar to that one but it was yellow and I think it's a cool bucket but no locking casters would be an issue for me too. I'd have to chase it all over the place.

Any grocery store with a bakery throws out 5 gallon buckets by the ton, that's what their glaze comes in. I had some folks at Wally World save me a couple. My favorite is actually about 4 gallons... 50lb drywall mud comes in 'em. Paint & wallpaper stores frequently toss 'em.

I received the Griot's bucket for a Christmas gift about 3 years ago and have literally only used it two or three times. I prefer using 2 of the standard 5-gallon buckets with a grit guard in each. I suppose that I just like the depth of the taller buckets.

I heard Advanced Auto was selling them cheap (20.00) but apparently not all the stores had them and they no longer list them on their website. Must have been a blow out sale. Standard 5 gal buckets and grit guards for me.

Thanks for the tip, @ 40.00 Im not surprised they arent selling. Kinda like the Autoglym at WM, just not the right market. Good for us as I know many loaded up on the HD wax for 20.00 or less! Ill have to stop by the local advanced tomorrow.

You may get lucky and find one at a store but as far as buying one from them online forget it. I even did a national search just to see if it even showed up and it doesn't.

I just use 2 buckets from Home Depot with the Grit guard. I got 2 of the buckets for 2.64 each and a buy one get one free on the grit guard...way cheaper than 60 bucks for one.

I also have no problem just pushing my bucket across the driveway or picking (I know, OMG) it up to move it.

i've been eyeing the double bucket dolly system, but the price...really??? i don't mind lifting objects, but sometimes its a pain moving the two buckets around a large vehicle.
