Review: Gilmour Foam Gun

I read here about a “Foam Gun” and I was thinking of some high tech gun that sprays foam like the ski areas shoot snow. But after looking into it and realizing they are just 40 bucks and are really garden sprayers, I ordered one from Amazon here:

[ame=http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000XTK940/ref=oh_o03_s00_i00_details]Amazon.com: Gilmour 75QGF4 Foamaster Cleaning Gun: Patio, Lawn & Garden[/ame]

I am very happy with the outcome. What are the advantages?

1. The big one for me is I did my whole car with about ½ ounce of expensive Optima shampoo I bought. Before I was mixing up 5 gallons with 1.5 ounces and then throwing most of the wash water away.
2. My wash mitt never has to be dunked back in dirty water to pick up more soap. It is already on the car. My mitt did the whole car in 5 min! A dip in clear water to rinse the mitt ½ way thru cleaned the cruds from the mitt so I didn’t scratch.
3. For Boats I can now see this as being a great way to spread/spray saltaway if you want.
I recommend it highly. There are many to be had. This one worked with out any adjustment – just fill it up and shoot the car! Things that are easy you do more often.

I've got one and totally love it. Picked it up from PAC a while back. I accidentally ordered two, so I guess I have an extra if the first breaks.

I recommend it too. It's great for degreasers or general presoaking.

i really like my gilmour foam gun too. when my family & friends see me using it, they are actually impressed with what appears to be an extra, special care step during the wash by using a thick foam base. i use mine as more of a pre wash soak during the wash.

I have had mine for a long time now and I like it a lot. The only issue I had was with the sprayer. It would get stuck on after I would let go of the trigger. After I sprayed a little grease on it it's been great ever since.

I never thought of putting degreaser in it but I bet something like PB bug squash would be great for the lower panels when there is a lot of tar and dirt that needs to be removed.

I'm thinking degreaser/solvent for wheel wells...I read a lot here that some soaps were pass or fail, the Ultima worked great and 1 oz should get me 3 washes on the accord....

Ultima is really good. I've been using it for several months and I really like it.

DP Xtreme foam works great in the foam gun as well. Chemical Guys Honey Dew works great as well.
