SAAB has been in trouble for years...mainly from the public's perspective. My brother was a rep for them in 5 diff states and they were always the odd man out. We both worked Dallas for a time, and I was the BMW rep and he the SAAB rep. In the biz, there is what we call the "mental shopping list" - that most people had. When 90% of the public would go looking for luxury imports, they went to BMW, Benz, Lexus, audi, Infiniti and Acura - pretty much in that order. The other guys sell to eclectic people who like the diff type stuff. They never could fill their showrooms with the Mainstream shoppers. We always would compare traffic counts from the weekend and I was always 5 to 1 vs his dealers.
I don't agree with the above, but it is "the way it is"...Lack of volume killed SAAB in a down market.
PS - I'm retired BMW of NA, Porsche NA and American Honda for 35 years....just fishing and detailing now (LOL)
