LC Pads

OK AG has their LC pads on sale and I'm not sure which ones to buy, HT or flat? I've only used CCS pads but they don't seem to be the crowd favorites. What colors are used the most in the HT or flats so I know how many of which to get I only do a few cars so don't need many.

I prefer the flat pads over the CCS pads as well and the 5 1/2" pads over the 6 1/2" size.

The 5 1/2" flat pads are thinner and seem to correct more efficiently.

I use Orange, White, Gray, and Blue.

Start out with:

Orange - 3
White - 3
Gray - 2
Blue - 2

I bought a few Hydro-Tech pads and those are great performers. Hydro-Tech pads are reported to absorb less product therefore keeping more of the product on the surface for more efficient correction.

The Cyan and Tangerine pads are for correction and the Red is for sealants and waxes.

Washing or cleaning foam pads is important so that surface debris and grime aren't being ground back into the paint. Pads can be washed by hand or the pad washers are another option that work well however it is rather pricy.

Pads should be cleaned throughout the correction unless you planned to have a sufficient supply on hand and wash them later on...

I would go what Bobby has mention on the Flat Pads and also the Hydro Tech Pads. Both types will do the job your looking for in terms of compounding and polishing.

+1 on Bobby's advice. I bought a slue of ccs pads and found that they work with a PC but sling stuff all over h*ll with a rotary. I like pads I can use both ways so I went with flat and never looked back. I have some HT pads and love them too. In fact I am buying more. :D

I love the 5.5" crimson HT with Klasse or Werkstatt. They don't absorb product and clean up nicely.

Well I guess there is no one answer is there. Although price may be a factor. 6 flat pads are 27.99 and 6 HT's are 37.98. AG just sweetened the deal also, free shipping no minimum until the 27th. I think I'll go with the flat 6 pack. I've been using orange, white, blue and red. Now just have to decide on black or blue.

The Hydro Lake Country Pads are great at correction and have the ability to finish down way nice at the end. They are designed to keep the product on the surface of the pad better, so they dont get as much air to cool them, and this causes Shredding for me when I use them on a Rotary. I dont run high speeds either, because its just not necessary, and I want the pads to last as long as possible since they are costlier than the regular pads.
They are also harder to dry because they hold everything, so plan on an extra day of drying them if you decide to get them. They are also thicker than the Flat pads.
If you wash the Hydro pads on the a pad washer, it will accelerate their shredding by a big amount, so you might want to consider washing them by hand. All other pads can be washed very easily in a pad washer and they dont have the weakness of the L/C pads for this part.

Been using the Lake Country pads in all varieties for years - corrrection and finishing with rotary, application of anything else with Flex 3401VRG, Meguiars G110V2 random orbital.

Also prefer the 5" and smaller sizes for everything except Airplanes, Vans, etc.., and only use Flat Pads.

Not the Megs one but got the Optimum polishing pad and have to say I like foam better as far as finishing goes.

Hey, is that little Angelo?
Someone draw a mustache on that baby and it will be a ringer ! :)

Love it !

GG DA, they just didn't finish down like a foam pad seemed to lack depth on a black car. Not terrible but not quite as nice as I was wanting. One thing I did figure out about them is slow is better 3-4 on the speed first try I used 5-6 and it looked like crap.

Me too went to the store to buy pads and 110.00 later I checked out:wall

I stopped at 85. Some flat white pads and crimson HT. I'm good. I'm gonna pick up some woolies when I see the BF gift I like. :D:D I need some more Klasse HGSG too.

I'd like some woolies also but just can't spend the asking price. GG has some that look pretty darn close for a lot less money. What's the BF gift your waiting on? I got the compound and polish and it's really nice stuff.

I was hoping they might give Wet Diamond. I don't have a bottle for the new year. However the woolies are $5 cheaper than AG right now and there is a free shipping offer. I have a cart with the woolies and Klasse HGSG ready to go I think I may just buy them now. Between the Klasse and Werkstatte Prime stash I have, I can make it through the next two years with no BF. Ouch, did I just say that? :bow (I'm sorry, Blackfire gods)
