The Ultima-te Pre-Wax Polish?

Early this morning I gave a Ford Expedition a quick bath and prepped the paint for an up-and-coming spray wax face off. The hood of the Expedition is in really good shape because several months ago I polished it (Blackfire SRC Polishes Cut Through Swirls & Water Spots w/Power of FLEX), so all that was needed was a non-abrasive polish just to ensure a squeaky clean surface for my spray wax face off. To prep the paint and give it a thorough cleansing, I used Ultima's Paint Prep Plus.

Paint Prep Plus is a non-abrasive pre-wax cleaner that cleanses paint for application of a wax, sealant or coating. What really makes Paint Prep Plus unique is that it actually leaves behind a special primer designed to promote proper bonding of your LSP. Paint Prep Plus is one of the easiest pre-wax cleaners available and can be applied by hand or machine. Being that Ultima is clearly different, Paint Prep Plus was the obvious choice to properly prep the hood and promote proper bonding of the spray waxes that will be featured in my upcoming spray wax face off.

Ultima Paint Prep Plus includes an orange polishing hand applicator designed for hand application. I've used Paint Prep Plus by machine before and was very impressed, but I didn't have too much experience using it by hand so I decided I would take advantage of the ergonomically designed orange polishing hand applicator and apply the product by hand.

I massaged Paint Prep Plus into the paint using a circular, overlapping motion with the orange polishing hand applicator. I really like this applicator because it features a shape that's user-friendly and I experienced no fatigue at any time while using the applicator. Ultima is known for thinking outside the box for the chemicals they manufacture, and their applicators and pads follow the same trend.

After letting Paint Prep Plus dry to a haze (about 2-3 minutes), I wiped it off using the flat weave side of the Super Soft Deluxe Microfiber Towel with Rolled Edges. This towel is one of my favorites because it features a thick nap on one side that's ideal for spray waxes or quick detail sprays, and a flat weave on the other side that is ideal for removing polishes, compounds, or waxes.

After completing the hood, I stood back and admire the deep, wet, glossy looking paint.

Not only is the paint shiny, but it's also prepped and ready for application of the four spray waxes in my upcoming spray wax face off.

Stay tuned! :rockon

Ultima - Clearly Different

I got a sample in trade. I did not know much about it so thanks for the write up. Does the bonding agent apply to any product similar to DG 601?

I really like this stuff. It does a really good job at removing embedded dirt and leaving a super clean surface. The pump dispenser is also nice. Great job Nick on a great product. That Ford looks great BTW and the reflection shots are sweet!

Dear Nick & Friends

That shine is ridiculous.

I love Ultima's Paint Guard Plus and look forward to using this product when I get ready to do a from-the-ground-up cleaning, sealing, and waxing.

i also did not know about this product. looks good.

601 can be used with other products besides duragloss?

It sure can! :bigups
