looking into getting a new car wash bucket, i really like the griots garage ultimate car wash bucket

how do you guys think it stacks up compared to a traditional 5 gallon bucket with grit guard

im having a very hard time justifying spending $60 on a plastic 5 gallon bucket on casters with another piece of plastic (grit guard) inside of it

I personally have chosen to stick to a 5 gallon bucket a grit guard due to the price. But if you want one I don't think any one will squeeze you to hard for it....

You can get 5 gallon buckets at Home Depot that fit the grit guards. I think 2 buckets is far more important than the grit guards. You could also make your own wheeled bucket holder from a furniture dolly with a little wood.

The Griot casters do not look nearly as robust as the bucket dollies. Rough concrete (like in my driveway) can be tough on some rollers.

If you have a concrete or asphalt driveway stick with the 5 gal bucket. If you wash on a smooth concrete floor then the Griots bucket is a good choice.

i have two 5 gallon buckets, both with grit guards one for soapy water and one for clear rinse water.
My local Pep Boys has an offer that with the purchase of $25 or more on car cleaning things the 5 gallon bucket is free!! At my local hardware store I purchased 4 rubber wheels, drilled 4 holes & installed them using as an sealer & screw protector "J-B Weld". Now I got a 4x4 washing buckect.. it rolls quiet on all surfaces. It works for me!

Considering the manufacturing cost of a 5 gallon plastic, better known as urethane, bucket is somewhere in the neighborhood of $1.00. Now add that fancy wire handle for an additional $0.15 and you've got yourself one hell of a profit.........they way I see it of course.

Knowing this, why is someone will to spend so much for something that does so little?

I have a interlock driveway and love my wheeled bucket. I have worn out a couple of bottoms of buckets prior to having one with wheels. The grit gard for the bottom is a must IMO.

A friend actually picked up the Griot's bucket for me for Christmas. Some how she got it for $10 from Advance Auto parts -- apparently it was covered in dust and the manager thought he'd never sell it for $40, he cut her a deal since she was buying some other stuff. Never would have believed it but she showed me the receipt.

It's nice! The markings on the inside and the dual grit guards are nice, and the casters are good quality. I use it as my wheels wash bucket. I doubt they're making insane profit on it due to low volume production, and it looks like the bucket can only really be used for car washing. It might be a custom mold.

But would I buy myself.....probably not for $40. But I can't fault anyone for buying it if it strikes their fancy. It's a quality product.

I'm looking for some wheels for my 2 buckets. Can I see a pic of your 4x4 bucket?

Ive been eyeing that bucket dolly sold by PBMA. Its 35$.

I'd rather go with two buckets than the GG single bucket. OP, you are talking about that rectangular one right?

If you don't need the wheels, I'd go with 2 buckets from the big box store. I think mine were only 3$ a piece. (Why would I buy one for 13$ plus shipping??!)

I was thinking about buying some fancier buckets from Autopia but its so much cheaper at Home Despot, I just got a grit guard instead. On second thought, I should have gotten two grit guards!

I had a couple of round bucket that looked pretty standard in size so I bought a grit guard for both. I dropped one in each and have been using them for about 3 years now without an problem. :bigups
