Future Wax Tire Shine?

Thought some of you might find this interesting, as well as nuts! Almost 30 years ago, when I used to detail cars as a hobby, & to make some pocket money, an old timer saw me aplying Armor All to tires, (yes that was the best they had back then), and he suggested that I get some Future Floor Wax, & use that instead. I decided to try it! The outcome? Really wet looking tires for over a month! Not good for the rubber, but did what I wanted it too! Of course, now we have real products made for this purpose. Just thought some of you may find that amusing!

I have had old timers tell me they used to use brake fluid on their tires.

Umm.....yeah......not for me.

Some of the ingredients in Future degrade rubber. A pilot who should've known better used it on the rubber deicing boots on the corporate aircraft he flew because he thought it looked better than the approved product. Less than a year later the boots started cracking... they usually last 10 years or more with proper care. After some testing BF Goodrich declined the warranty claim. $10,000+ down the drain. He wasn't unemployed too long...
