Anybody using Meguiars DA Microfiber Correction Compound NOT with a DA or the microfiber pads?

Here's why I'm asking.

I have my car in the shop. The shop owner & mechanic is a good friend, he has been working on my cars for 15 years, so he always lends me one of his cars as a loaner while he works on mine. While I have the loaner I try and clean it up and give it back much nicer than when I got it. And since it tends to be more of a beater car, I can practice my polishing techniques.

Anyway, his car had some pretty good swirls so I looked for my M105 only to find it was almost empty and what was left in the bottle was dried out and I did not have any other aggressive polish.

I recently got a rotary polisher and decided to experiment. So I used the Meguiars DA Microfiber Correction Compound with a white LC foam pad and the rotary.

It worked great! It polished up very nicely, was very easy to use, and easy to remove.

I know it was designed to use with a DA and the microfiber pads but I can't think of a reason not to see it as just another polish. My seat of the pants guess is that it seemed to have a cut similar to Menzerna Intensive Polish but is even easier to use.

Anybody else done something similar? I searched the forum and did not see it mentioned anywhere.
 
I use D300 on the rotary all the time, sometimes in conjunction with 105. I also use D300 on foam polishing pads too, that with lake country green is a great 1 stepper for harder clear coats.

Dare I say I use menzerna products with the MF pads :whaasup:

Ahhh the mind of a typical detailer... A company spends an extraordinary amount of money to develop a proven system... The detailer gets it, tries it once, and immediately starts using the product in a way that is not recommended... :rofl

I did the same thing :)

D300, as I understand it, is recommended for microfiber pads because it is a slippery product. Chemicals have been added to it (including silicone) to allow it to evenly coat the microfiber nap which gives you a maximum amount of abrasives working at a given time and optimal results.

I have found D300 to work well via rotary and DA with foam pads. It cuts almost as much as M105 but with less sling/dusting and easier clean up. However, at least in my experience, it is too slippery when used with a wool pad and this is when I have seen a huge difference in the amount of cut (vs M105). It still cuts nice and is extremely user friendly, but the amount of cut is significantly less then with M105 in the use.

D300 also does great on plastic lens and headlights.

I think almost everything we buy for detailing has more possible uses than just the "recommended" use, so keep up the experimentation.
 
The best thing I found with D300 is its easy of use.

It does not dry out, does not dust, it is easy to remove, and it produces a terrific finish.

Smells nice too...
