2011 Audi A4 mini detail ( Sonax vs BR )

Hi guys

I have a Audi A4 that needs some attention. and doing a comparison on Sonax full effect vs brown royal. The car goes on a lot of road trips. lots of bugs, bird droppings and grime.


My thoughts on sonax, that its a awesome wheel cleaner for sure. Its very effective with a powerwasher. I only needed to clean the back of the spokes.

BR is great also, because of the price. performance is not up there with sonax but for bang of the buck. This product wins all wheel cleaners out there!

I havent tried Sonax but I am a big fan of Brown Royal. It works great on tires too.

Awesome job on the detail! I'm with Jim. I have never used Sonax, but I use BR all of the time. It is cheap and effective. I just can't justify the price of Sonax. I could buy some nice tools for the price that I would spend extra on Sonax.

If time is money

Sonax $95 5 L costs $ .56 oz

BR $18 1 gal costs $ .15 oz

Sonax can save lets say 5 minutes max per wheel x 4 wheels = 20 min. lets say you charge $50 per hr like some pros. that's roughly $17 saved for 20 min.

lets say you use 32 oz per car. sonax will be $18 BR will be $5. so you saved $13 on product but lose out $17 on time. 20 cars and you'll lose $100 per month $1200 a year on time. NOT PRODUCT.

for pros it makes sense, for people that just doing this part time or hobby... no it doesn't make sense.

it was just an example. real life, I probably use around 10 - 16 oz depending on the wheels.
