Classic Motoring Accessories Closing their doors.

I guess the European Vendors were lucky to be given notice as I wasn't given any notice of this until I discovered this today as they owe me $$$ in back invoices..and I've been supplying them since 2008.

Wow, (no pun intended), but where have you been? The closing has been discussed on every auto detailing forum since it was announced.

I see PAC's site(s) are now down, with the mysterious exception of the Four-Star site.

Also appears TID is still alive sort-of.

Let's see...I've been chasing down customers to pay their invoices, keeping my 3,000sf detailing shop running to pay my employees, supporting my family working 7 days a week from 6am to midnight everyday, my 7 year old son has been living with me since June and going to summer school, I just got my wife back from overseas who was wrongly banned and detained by the United States while she traveled to her dying mother..took me 2 lawyers, years of pain and suffering to get the US Immigration to admit they made a mistake...

Some of us spend more time actually have a life outside of the forums working and running their businesses than talking to others about detailing.

The bottom line is that I was a good supplier for CMA/PAC and they screwed me over. They should have informed me and not expected me to find out through the forums. I'd been dealing with Felix ever since they picked me up in 2008, I don't know what happened to him.

Perhaps we should stop coming here then? Then we won't be wasting your time or the time of the other vendors.

If you're chasing money, I suggest you do a better job of running credit checks, payment history, etc. That's good business skills.

But please, don't let us keep you from your work. You are too busy to be bothered by this place.

I've worked hard all my life and have built up exceptional wealth. Someday, when you have time, I'll show you how to have multiple income streams that flow in even while talking on the detail forums. :)

Well that was out of line and uncalled for....

It might do you some good to remember that your post is being read by potential buyers of your products (provided you don't offend them).

There are some of us who feel our participation on forums is an important part of running a business -- not only for marketing our services but also because staying on top of new trends and practices allows us to offer nothing but the best to our customers. If you feel that forum participation is unimportant to the success of your products, that's fine, but don't sit there and bash people who value it. Not cool.

Dude relax, no need to be so defensive. :D

You asked me where I've been since "The closing has been discussed on every auto detailing forum since it was announced."

So I told you..and it wasn't directed at you. But it's true..I spend more time talking to customers face to face and on the telephone and through emails and working on cars all day trying to put food on the table and I frequent a few forums I sponsor before I pass out each night.

If you take my answer personally, then that's your own issue. How about keeping this thread on track?

I never said that forum participation is NOT important. I'm a sponsor for 5 other enthusiast forums and only have time for really 1 or 2 of them to answer questions regularly.

I think my post is being misinterpreted. I think forum participation is VERY important both to the business and learning about the business, but there is a difference between detailers that spend more time on the forums talking about detailing than detailers that spend more time actually working. Sometimes things get super hectic around the shop and I just don't have the time or energy to check the forums to see who is going out of business. It's been over a month since I've been able to really get on anything other than FaceBook..not because I think I'm superior, but due to time allocation.

Simple as that.

Richard

So far I miss the old operation

When I first started ordering at PAC I would order over the weekend. My order would ship out on Monday and arrive on Friday before a weekend of detailing. Since the closing of PAC I have placed two orders with PBMG on a weekend but the orders don't ship until Tuesday. Therefore, orders don't arrive until the following Monday. May seem like a small deal but if I need a product for the weekend it becomes a big deal. Before I give up on on the new ship I will try placing an order on Friday and see if them gives PBMG ample time to process my order.

Yeah that's a good idea.

I never order on the weekend because I also am in ecommerce and understand that's when shipping stops, employees take a day or two off and Monday is like Friday night, Saturday, Sunday and Monday all rolled up into one.

I place my orders on Monday night after most of the chaos is over. Ships on Tuesday great, Wednesday is OK too. Get my stuff Thursday or Friday, in time for the weekend.

I'm sure that one of the reasons CMA is gone is because they didn't have nearly the volume as PBMG does. That worked for them (your orders shipping fast on Monday) and against them as well since they didn't have enough orders.

Richard, at least one product provider is talking so we are getting more insight on PAC's business condition.

As for Four Star, I wonder if they are just trying to sell off the inventory that PAC held. I suspect Four Star supplied them with some of their private brands as well.

Ya I know AG is dealing with more orders.

I try to avoid having an order ship on a Friday so it won't sit in a truck over the weekend. It is very hot in the south and western USA right now. I try to reduce the "bake time". So now I have an aerosol can of cleaner sitting in AZ or NM somewhere over this weekend waiting for delivery next week. Another option is to order heat sensitive items locally or wait for cooler weather.

The AG customer service page says they can ship ground nest business day. I ill try a Friday order next time and see what happens.

Thanks Bunky! :bigups

I agree it's likely from the large volume of orders received over the weekend, likely spurred by frequent weekend specials and classes. FWIW I think they also work on Saturday and are loading up the UPS trailers then, too...so it's not like they aren't trying to keep up.

Okay Bunky, so now what do we do with that information since they are out of business?

On delivery issues, I have none. I usually get two day delivery from DB or DI. Order on Monday before 10 AM, products are here on Wednesday afternoon. Distance also plays a part in shipping. Ohio seems to be in an ideal location for quick deliveries.

It is something interesting to know how and why things happen. Why did PAC fail? It could be a good business lesson.
