Which wash

I'll try the DG and compare it to what I currently use. It's on sale at our local CarQuest for $4.99.

Were the gallons on sale/in stock? I doubt seriously that you will be disappointed in the product. It is just a car wash soap, no miracle product, but it works and for me having access to gallons has been a real bonus as it is one of those products that I tend to run through with great frequency. IMO you would be well served to go ahead and spring for that gallon, if it is available.

Admittedly, I am prone to picking up car wash soaps (my preferred brands) whenever I find them on sale. Unlike some of the other products I seem to stock, the soaps/cleaners rarely gather much dust.

Smells good, suds good, does not strip wax!
Please name one that does when mixed at recommended rates. Warn us if you know of any.

Mr. Clean,

I stopped by the CarQuest and they had a 16 oz. and a gallon size. However, he told me those two units have been on the shelf since he started there in 07. I passed on it. I'm not buying old soap.

Now, that does not mean that DG isn't an excellent product. It simply means the guys at that store are not salesmen, OR, the public buys other advertised brands at big box stores or they may use dish soap. This local CarQuest didn't offer many car care items. When asked why, he told me that most of his customers are weekend mechanics with dirty hands and beat up cars. :(

Mequiar's Shampo Plus is awesome!

I'll do a double take if I ever see an average Joe washing his car with DG. Most of the time it's TW or Blue Coral or something along those lines.

Sounds like a good opportunity to ask to see if there was any additional discount available to move that product off the shelf. Since 901 is in a clear container it is easy enough to see the product and determine if there was any obvious problem with it (it should be rather thick and a deep dark red in color). If not, I wouldn't be too scared to pick up a bargain. Since there is no "born on date" on the jugs I've bought I have no idea of their age. I have picked up many a jug with a layer of dust on it. Haven't been disappointed yet.

Just call me average Joe then (I probably won't answer to Joe, though I've answered to far worse :D). Nothing at all wrong with the car wash soaps from either of those brands AFAIK. We (collective "we") tend to get a bit carried away in our thinking that only the "boutique" branded products are worthy of our attention and praise. Car wash soaps... not so much.

I have been to Car Quest a few times. I do not think their stock turns over much here either in the car appearance section.

We have two Napa's locally. I have gone to both multiple time hoping to find some DG products like 901. No such luck. They do have SCG though. I may have to see if they will let me order in from their chemicals catalog since I have heard nothing but great things about 901.

As far as car wash that I have and use....

Megs gold class / shampoo plus: IMO these are almost identical products simply marketed to different customer bases. Both are good soaps IMO.

Opt car wash: good cleaning ability, great suds, rinses clean, nice scent.

CG CWG / CWC: both are good soaps that can serve multiple applications based on dilution.

I have been to at least 3 different Car Quests in my area and had no luck finding any Duragloss products. I did go to a Parts Plus store and low and behold they had the entire DG line. They had products I never even knew existed. The store also carried Gliptone and a bunch of other lines. The products are a bit pricey but I would get to save on shipping.

Unfortunately the store is down at the beach and I stock up when I head down.

There are many great soaps out there. My top three are Dodo Born to be Mild, Optimum and Ultima. But many other great choices are available.
