LCC Pads Velcro Coming Apart

I cannot be the only person that is having problems with the quality of this product. During a detail yesterday I had two white pads tear completely from the velcro (using porter cable with Pro Polish) and the other day lost the velcro on a green pad. I have had some partially separate in the past but never rip completely off. Other pad recommendations I am currently using the LC 5.5 CCS pad looking to make a switch.

That's exactly why we don't use them ..... go with the CCS 6.5" they have a molded backing to them (not glue holding them together its molded with the pads during manufacturing) and the backing plate is recessed in them so no chance of the BP nicking the paint.

Thanks for the advice I was lucky on both occassions that I didn't hit the paint either time. However, I do prefer the 5.5 size with the PC any other good pads at the 5.5 size?

Just be careful they list them as 7.5" pads those are the ones that I'm talking about some measure from back some measure from face lol

Correct. We list the recessed pads that you're referring to as 7.5 inch as do most other sites. With a DA you want to use the 6 inch backing plate so it fits snug right in there.

A pad that size isn't always suggested with a Porter Cable, though. In my experience, you don't want to go bigger than what we list as 6.5 inches, especially for different types of correction.

I tried the CCS pad when it first came out and it did not hold up well so I'm still using the old style VC pad But the only place that has those is Steve.

I have some of those that are 5 years old.

Every Lake Country pad I've got is coming apart - some after initial use (PFW). I won't be purchasing any more unless I absolutely cannot find another pad made by someone else.

I believe Tex had a post a few months ago about this exact same issue. Ive never had a problem with CCS pads at all but after hearing so many people having issues with them I dont think I'll be buying anymore. Ive got over 20 though so Im good on pads for a while, but my next ones are going to be Steves VC's.

If I recall correctly, there were some issues with the adhesive on some of the pads a while back. Since then the issue has been addressed and it has been quite some time since I've heard anyone having issues with recently manufactured pads.

I have long set aside the Porter cable and mover to the rotary for finessing and finish polishing, The only use the porter cable I have in my arsenal is for wax and sealant application... what I have found with the porter cable was/is that if I were using it for minor surface correction at Mid to high speed setting (4,5,or 6) the PC shaft that the backing plate attaches would transfer heat in to the backing pad and thus transfer head to the center of the pad, this would cause premature failure to the glued Velcro style pad..it always failed from the center first. now how did I come to this conclusion.. after having multiple pad failures I worked with a good pad and at different intervals touch the pad to the back of my hand, I never felt the extensive heat being generated in the reverse direction.. from the pad to the backing plate.

As of yet I have not tried the Flex but its something to look foreword to....yeah:yay

I know what you mean. I was using a PC to remove some overspray and I ended up having the backing plate and pad melt into each other in the center. (This was using it at 6, though, and for a fairly large area.)

You are correct. I did have issues with about all of my pads from a certain order. They were replaced and then some. I would not hesitate to buy any LC pad, as the customer service directly is great. Now on the other hand, I wish I could order pads that are consistant in feel/stiffness and the velcro backing. :(

So I am still at a lose here and not sure what to order. I like the smaller 5.5 pads but don't want to buy anymore LCC pads they just don't last with the PC IMO. What are Steves VC's? Any other recomendations on pads that are 5.5in?

Haha it's all good. Yes the VC pads will work with your PC just fine. I plan on getting some for my Griots soon.
