Hello from Austin, Texas!

Long time auto detail technician & business owner here. Owned 2 very successful shops in So. Cal (Pomona & Laguna Niguel), but sold them off for a career in the environmental field for the past 13 years.

Decided to go back to what I've always loved and started another detailing business. 18 + years of experience and always willing to contribute and pick up info along the way.

Word of Mouth advertising has always been great for me and continues to do so in ATX. Looking forward to meeting some of my fellow pros on the forum! bb:D

Welcome here. In all honesty when we moved away from Austin five years ago it was one of the best feelings of my entire life. Austin is a love it or despise it town, we despised it after living there for many years. Make the best of what you have there.

Wow, tough crowd. Nothing quite like telling the new guy his home town sucks. A little work on our etiquette might be in order.

Welcome. Keeping Austin weird?

Nice work on the Tahoes on the webpage. You staying busy this time of year?

Keeping Austin weird?? Austin is moren than capable all by itself! lol, I had initially added the motto of "Keeping Austin Weird one car at a time ...." to my website. :D

The Tahoes were actually some of the simplest details, with great results! Thanks ;)

Great one DJ! Just curious where you heard that saying. You don't have the bumber sticker do you?

:rofl Your learning. We may make a Texan out of you yet! :D

Welcome to DetailCity ShadeTree.

Thanks!

Btw, I think the saying actually comes from Boulder, Colorado ...... the signage is everywhere 'round here though. Walk through the downtown area and see how many times you find yourself doing a double take over what you just "think" you saw ....... crazy.

Man, I feel ya although I'm actually a transplant from So. Cal (Newport Beach) .... sorry fellow Texans! My least favorite place to have lived? ATLANTA ...... lasted for less than 5 months before moving to Nashville.

Actually, yes. I'm typically booked 2 weeks out and even with the colder weather it hasn't seemed to slow down yet.

This leads me to a question for you and anyone else who is "mobile". I never had to decide whether the temperature was too cold to work in, as far as detailing, before.

Looks like the temp in Austin is going to be cold enough in the AM that I need to decide if a reschedule is called for or not. Interior details are no big deal with the weather, but usning the exhaust from the PW to warm my fingers up sucks!

What are you guys using as a cut off regarding temperature/weather? I've had a couple of days where even the customers thought I was nuts to wash their car (mid 30 degree) ...... I sucked it up though. :D

So what's the cut off temperature for the "it's too cold today?"

It's all good, bro ....... as long as there's some love for the "Horns" (Longhorns), all is well. ;)
Afraid you're pushin' it there. I pull for them whenever they play OU, the Aggies, and in the old SWC days, Arkansas and various bowl games. Other than those I am solidly agin 'em. Though there have been some football players from that school that I really like. (most notably Earl Campbell) On the flip side of that coin are Diron Talbert and Chris Simms :)

They didn't do so great this year but I love my longhorns. Looks like we have a really good recruiting class coming in. Lets hope for the best!

And about keeping Austin weird, it's been in Austin for years as well. As far as the origin, who knows. I don't have the bumper sticker but I've seen it many a times. I love TX but I love the coasts better here in FL. Now if I could transplant some reefs to Rockport, TX, I'd move their today.

lol!

I remember watching Campbell, Riggins and even Mark Gastineau back in the days where it was awesome to watch these guys in action ..... I'm trying as hard as I can to be a fan of the Horns ........ REALLY tryin'! :D
