Hello All,
I have been having alot of issues with M102 & M205 and the PC. I'm lost as to what I am doing wrong.
1. Prime orange pad with M105.
2. Apply 4 dime sized drops.
3. Spread M105/205 at a speed of 3-4
4. Increase speed to approx 5.5 not using too much pressure just enough to keep pad moving
5. After approx 3-4 minutes M105/205 turns to a white thick paste on pad and my truck which is hard as hell to get off.
I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. The weather was around 50 today but I dont think that was the problem. Please help....
:help::help:
I'll try to take pictures tomorrow as I gave up today and cut my losses.:help:

Pretty common problem with M105. I've had to spritz with water or a QD of some sort to help remove the residue. Regarding M105, I've actually moved over to using Ultimate Compound in it's place and have had a lot better luck with it.

As previously stated M105 is a royal PITA until you get the hang of it. Just make usre you are priming and cleaning the pad correctly and applying even pressure to the pad. But I am surprised to hear that you are having the same problem with M205, I have found this to be very user friendly and have never had the gumming up issue. Also spritzing with water on M105 will help. PM me and I can send you a few things about a good method when it comes to M105.

Thank You Jared & Mike. I feel a little better now. After mulling over what I could have been doing wrong I went back outside (glutten for punishment) and tried megs#9 with alot better results. Took a little longer but did the job.

I misspoke earlier, I was only have the issue with M105.

Mike a pm is on it's way to you.

as per your #4...you have to apply pressure....too light and you are not working the compound properly and you will find it hard to wipe off like the trouble you are having......what size pad are you using?

JuJu thanks for your reply.. If I use too much pressure the machine bogs down.. the pad size is 6.5. I'm gonna try a different pad maybe a white polishing pad to see if that helps. Might just try another product if I can't get this to work right.

OK! Sounds like u are using too much product then cuz you always wanna make sure that the pad is rotating!! Lessen up on how much you use to prime the pad and maybe a lil less after.. keep the pad clean with a terry towel helps after each section also! If that doesn't work for you try the LC hydro 5.5 thin pads....they work amazing! But personally when I use 105 on pc with a 6.5 pad I dont prime the pad with 105.....I use 2 or 3 sprays of Pinnacles polishing pad conditioner and a circle of 105 on first pass.......after I just use 3/4 to 1/2 of a circle of product with an occasional spray of pad conditioner . I have been using 105 like that for some time with great results.....no dusting, not hard at all to wipe off! Once u get the hang of 105 You won't ever wanna use anything else! Hope this helps U! good luck!

It is very possible that I am using too much product. I'm gonna give it ago again tomorrow and see what happens. I'm gonna try the way you described. How do u keep the pad clean after each section with terry towel? Do u blot the pad?

Blot and gently wipe...........maybe Make it shine has some pointers in his PM to u too!

Yes his PM was extremely useful. Gonna use both techniques to see if it helps. Maybe it's just one of those products that I'm not ever gonna get used to

this is what i do. spray the pad lightly with some water from a spray bottle. then i would put 4 pea size dots on each corner of the pad. then i will set it on speed 1 and spread the product around the area you are working on. afterward i will set it on 3 speed to test it and see if its effective or not, otherwise bump up the speed to 4 or 5. i don't use 6 speed because i don't think its necessary. hope this helps

I think you are definitely over buffing M105. It has a short work time...3 to 4 passes max.

I applied some to the pad, spread without power (manually), turned it on at full speed, and stopped when it started to dry out...around the 3rd pass then stop.

Even with M205, it had a short work time for me -- about 4 passes then two light passes.

Thanks for all the replies. I got it somewhat down today but i think my PC is on its way out. I heard that the brushes in the motor can be changed and will look into that. Reason I say it might be the machine is that today I went out to finish it and used the same pads but this time i had to lift the machine almost off the truck to get it to spin. I used a 4" pad i think the machine was a whole lot better it was spinning with me putting light pressure. How do u know if the brushes need replacing?
