What is up with self-proclaiming the "best mobile detailer"

Sorry but I have to rant about this. I can't understand why and how any detailer can claim to be the best in any given area. Shouldn't they leave that for their customers? :hmmm:I keep seeing guys say, they are the "absolute best", "best Detailer in ...."and so on. I just think that shows unprofessionalism.(if that is even a word) I say leave it to your reviews and customers to say that you're the best, in their opinion. Every detailer probably excels in some facet of detailing, either interior cleaning, paint correction/polishing, or whatever. Does anyone else feel that way, especially if there are multiple detailers in one area?
Personally I like to meet other Detailers, Real Detailers, not fly-by-night guys who just want to make a quick buck and undercut everyone, and give Detailing a bad rep:wall. I Respect other Detailers out there, especially if they have been doing this longer than we have. Get ideas and thoughts about clients in the area, not to underbid them or try to undermine their business.
There is plenty of work out there for everyone and I think Detailers should respect their fellow entrepreneurs and show our potential clients that Real Detailers are out there and willing to make your car look awesome and give you service you demand!

Well I'm done for now.:passout:

I might be back to rant some more. Thanks for listening

At least I was proclaimed (not just by myself) as the "Best Detailer".

I think it depends on the area your in more than anything. If your the only person within a 50 mile radius that even knows what paint correction is, and you have the tools, know-how, and want-to in order to do the work correctly, I think you've earned the right. Any competitive business is going to try and "1 up" each other. Thats just part of it. I know a few guys who own other types of small businesses and they are more cut throat than the tobacco industry when it comes to advertising and pricing. Long story short, anyone can and usually will call themselves the best to attract customers. If they called themselves "the 4th best detailing business in xx county" they wouldnt get any calls.

Yeah, I even see some guys proclaiming themselves to be SuperDuper Moderators. What ever happened to a little humility? It seems so much more believable when someone else is doing the back patting.

As the saying goes, it ain't bragging if it is true.

In reality, exuding confidence is one key part of salesmanship. "Best" claims are natural puffing -- saying something that may not really that absolutely correct.

It wasnt just me who said I wsa worlds greatest detailer. :gotcha:

So, when I got the pizza that said "You've tried the rest, now try the best" on the box, it may not have been the best?
