Did Paint Correction Today

Today I removed some minor scratches on the Corvette.
I have Dupont 72200S clear coat it is kinda medium hard.

I read how people use Meg 105 and PB 2.5 or 3.0 and other aggressive polish so some may be surprised at what I used to remove the scratches.

I used a PC set on 5 with a LC Black pad and Menzerna Final Polish II the Menzerna is rated at a .05 cut rate.

I removed all the scratches and it looks awesome.

I read just last night on AG that a PC was nothing but a expensive paper weight and would not correct paint.

In the right hands not only will it correct the paint but you do not need to use the most aggressive polish you can find to do it.
 
Question 1. Did you do an IPA wipedown after this polishing session?
Question 2. Are you referring to one of the grey LC finishing pads?

AFAIK FP II is more of a glossing polish. Very mild. I just can't imagine that it would do any correcting on even the mildest paints. And the LC finishing pads are marketed as zero cutting ability.

Question#2 Correct
Question#3 It is not the rocks in a bottle that most want to use but yes it did correct the minor scratches.
 
Sounds like the mantra that most of us should try and live by - use the least aggressive method that will get the job done. :bigups

I normally don't take photos of a job half finished but since you ask here is the fender that was scratched.

I still have about a week of work left before it will be ready.
Please keep in mind this is just polished I have not put on the glaze or LSP yet, It will look better when I'm done.

Car is on jack stands so I took photo with it in the garage with overhead door up for light.
I can not use a flash it will blind the camera.

Hey Black Bart, Thanks for posting the photos and sending the PM. That looks great for polished only without glaze or LSP. If I wanted to take the time I could probably count the hairs in your eyebrows.:rofl Very nice clarity.

Thanks TD I thought I would work on it today but my back is not up to it and I got to mow the lawn today so guess I will wait till tomorrow to put on the glaze and LSP.
Plan on going to a show on the 15th so I have time to get it ready.
 
I am thinking that Black Bart's definition of a minor scratch may have just been a cob web considering how clean he keeps his cars - joke!

All I can say is that fender looks pretty D good!

More like a reflection of a cobweb in the corner of the garage ;) :D

Its a shame that people right away go for M105 and the wool pad instead of trying this approach and this guy did.

Good on him.
