Ancient car waxes???

In the late 60's and early 70's I used Astroshield religiously:bow!!! I thought and still think at the time it was the best out there for ease of use and shine, compared to Simonize. I had so many coats on my car it was ridiculous, but then again I am still doing that now a days with a different brand!!!!

I also used Rallye wax, but only as a precleaner before the Astroshield. I didn't know too much about polishes at that time(being in my teens).

I learned of Car Skin from my father in law and learned quickly it was a great cleaner. I think I still have a bit in a green can downstairs.

When I saw Dennis Weaver pitching Autofom with Fomblin, they had me hook, line and sinker. I thought the high tech space industry had finally come to car care and my TR6 would be perfect forevermore.

I'd give my eye teeth, my left arm, my right leg, my spleen, and my liver (I have a spare one anyway).

A great car for sure. Top down, 74 mph on the highway the draught of air over the top would cause a bit of a vacuum in the car. Just enough to make my tie suddenly and repeatedly flap up into my face and lay a beating on me.
I'd often have a smoke in my mouth at the time so the tie would hit the cigarette and burning ashes would flop down into my nether regions and I'd slow down and try to put out the burning ashes with wild hand gestures.
I'd get some really strange looks from sightseeing buses passing in the opposite direction.
I'd show up at work with burn holes in my tie and the guys at work would look at the tie and raise their eyebrows and ask, "74?".
I'd reply in the affirmative as I went to my locker and got another tie.
Those were the days,
 
Last year was visiting with my sister in laws uncle. He leaves done the alley from the shop, (my mother in laws house). He has been using ASTOSHEILD for nearly 40 years. And still uses it. He worked in a truely FULL Service gas station for 40 plus years.(his uncle owned it after his dad passed away.) They waxed cars a few years back. They did the normal tires, oil change, aliignments, brakes, and maybe a few transmissions and other mid auto work. They were even open on Christmas a few years back with at least 2 guys in the shop.

Back on subject. The ASTROSHEILD manufacturer has now no longer making the product. (Retirement, no one wants to bujy the company or its products). It is still available in gallon containers the last time I checked. He was going to a small airport and buying a couple cans every couple years when he got low. His car sits out 24/7, but hes got swirls he cant see too. But its slick!

Agreed, not much in hiding or correction abilities, but it was slick!! Heck and I am not fibbing here, but after 3-4 coats, if you got tar on the car you could literally wash it off. Was good stuff for its time!!! I used this for everything, very good for a daily driver, never owned a trailer queen(not even my avatar is a queen- I put 4-6kk on it a yr) and I would even use it on that if they still made it but there is better stuff out there by todays standards anyway.

Megs Mirror Glaze set, you had a series of glazes. This was when low riders where looking for the super wet look

TR3 RESIN GLAZE..it was hard on the arms too ..p&s hi tone glaze ..it would seperate in half ..they still make it but only in gallons ..
 
You can still get TR3 Resin Glaze at Advance (or Autozone). At least they were carrying it around here last year or so.
 
:whaasup:while it has taken me a week to get my photos up on this thread ,ive had this bottle for about 30 years does that make me or the bottle ancient, has anybody seen one of these its green glass very thick with the name turtlewax moulded into the glass and boasts the slogan WORLDS LARGEST SELLING LIQUID CAR WAX:rockon and i wanna know where is death valley cause it says its been tested there at 135deg F , OH AND NEW brillium FORMULA SHINES LIKE THE SUN , and another quote from the bottle is this sheilds like an invisible garage :bow wow the claims made here are huge :lmfao

thanks mate i thought so but just wasnt sure so you have seen this bottle before in the US do you think it was made in the US cause the bottle label does not specify
