Moving to Texas

Haven't been on the site lately because I have been getting my house ready for sale. We put the for sale sign in the yard on Feb. 1st and we already have a contract on the house. The close date is March 19th if all goes well with the inspection and appraisal.

We are moving north of Dallas - up close to Reddwarf.

I am bummed the house sold quickly (thankful in a way) because I will be missing the Macungie car shows and Poorboys detailing weekend. :wall:wall

Congratulations on the quick sale. Don't know where you are now, but you will love Dallas :bigups

As for missing Poorboys weekend....Think if your House wouldn't have sold and you were having to pay 2 mortgages for 6 months or longer...:surrender

I could easily justify in my mind a plane ticket up to Poorboys with all the savings :crazy2:

Congrats and good luck on the move !!!

New adventures are exciting.

You could drive up to the PB weekend. You know the car will need a detail after the drive. :)

Congrats :yay with much sadness :( We will certainly miss you, Jen, and the puppies at Macungie and the Detailing Weekends ... you know where to find us :howdy

Trent, good luck in all your ventures, You have been a real good friend to me in the few times we have met. I certainly will miss you too, please be safe and keep in touch, and above all keep the faith!!!:yourrock

Thanks guys - I will certainly keep in touch with all of you. I am excited about getting back close to home.

It is going to be nice to hop in the car and drive 3 hours to see my family.

So are you moving to Texas or back to Texas? There are some residency rules that need to be established. I'm the new hall monitor around here. :D And if your screen ID isn't a reference to the fine line of workboots, your stay might be abreviated. :D

actually - I was born and raised in Houston and moved to PA when I was 22. Been here 18 years and now heading BACK to Texas, but north of Dallas this go round. My screen ID is referencing the best NHL hockey franchise, not boots. LOL

It will take a lot to make this stay abbreviated for ya - because I will unleash the wrath of my wife if you know what I mean :rofl:rofl

Well it appears that a little re-education might be in order. :D We are fond of RedWing boots around here, but the hockey stars of this town are the Dallas Stars. :D Actually I have very little knowledge of hockey, because well...it just wasn't a sport around here...like soccer (and yes we even had an outdoor soccer team (or club or whatever) and an indoor team around here). But we do have a lot of hockey fans now and a fancy new home for the team along with the Dallas Mavericks. I've been to several games with some guys from up north (MI, WI, VT) who tried unsuccessfully to explain the rules and regs. :D

MR. Clean - what part of Texas are you?
I am just north and east of Big D in what is called the Metroplex. A bunch of once small towns that are now big cities.

Happy as well as sad to hear that Trent we will miss you a lot no more making Pockets carry your 5 gallon to your car lol :( ....... good luck with the house and tell Jen I said "HI" :)

well the MLS soccer team would be the FC Dallas, originally the Dallas Burn. I actually play soccer and already contacted North Texas soccer association about looking for a team to play for. My wife and I are starting off in Allen and will be looking east of Lake Lavon to settle down. WE have seen a lot of houses for sale out there that are horses permitted.

Best of luck with the move. You will be able to detail more months out of the year now. We'll remember you in spirit at the next PB Detail Weekend:)

Actually for those of us who are a little older  know there was the Dallas Tornados long before the FC Dallas. Several star soccer players played for the Torndados. Won a championship in the early 70s IIRC.

Starting in Allen, well I'm sorry about that. ;) That is kind of where we send all the newcomers. LOL Wylie is east of Lake Lavon and probably has some horse friendly propery. The town of Lavon is out in that same area, though I don't know much about it. There have been lots of changes in the real estate landscape in that area recently. Murphy is south of Wylie on 78, I think it had lot restrictions of not less than 5 acres, but I don't know if that still holds true or even what is available.

at that same time - the Houston Hurricanes were in the same league.

WE have seen properties in Wylie, Nevada, Caddo Mills, Royse City. We will have time to look around after we get settled.

Someone else is just going to have to step up, buy a 5 gal jug and have you haul it to their car.

Jen says hello

Thanks Kurt - I was really hoping to sell my house later and close in mid summer. This way I could have made the detailing weekend.:)

Best of luck with everything, at least you will have nicer weather most of the year.

Thanks Matt

Am looking forward to warmer weather and longer months of detailing.

I didn't go quite that far east. ;) I was thinking a little closer to Lake Lavon. I would place those closer to Lake Ray Hubbard. Once you get over there (off I-30), there's also Rockwall and Heath. Don't know how rural you want to get, but there are probably quite a few unicorporated areas also. Depending on your viewpoint, those areas have their benefits and drawbacks. Yeah, there is lots of ground to cover.

So are you bringing horse(s) with you?
